Im looking to buy a 91-94 240sx se! Is there any type of problems i should be looking for, besides the small stuff that a 10 year old car has? Im basically looking for a good project car, this car seems like theres alot of options so i think ill be getting one shortly. Thanks for any advice

welcome. I don't know of any specific problems to search for, just kinda cruise around the forums and you'll pick up on problems that others have had.

Listen for the timing chain while it's running...that's about the only endemic problem.

ask them if it has anti-lock breaks, HICAS, or a stock LSD. having or not having one of these could cost you some money later on depending on what youre going to be doing with the car. You'll probably find water in the trunk of a fastback. so dont be surprised, if you do. Welcome, you've chosen an excellent car.

Thats weird, mine doesn't leak at all. I guess I must be really lucky with my 91 FB.

I just got a 91 SE. The motor or fuel system or ignition system or SOMTHIGN has a problem. It stalls occationaly and surges when it's driving. I still would have bought it knowing the problems but that's just me. They're all hard to find in the config I want it. Just make sure you inspect the car, and drive it and make sure everything works well. Check power windows, locks, etc. etc. etc.

If you car is surging, try the O2 sensor 1st... Clean the MAFs, ... intake hose leak,.... thats a start

Dome light??? Thats weird!!!! Sunroof?

My 89 had a big a$$ leak in the trunk (the infamous tail light leak I never got around to fixing). It also had 2 bad widshield leaks I never got around to fixing.

I didnt think it would be the o2 sensor.. it also has a fairly large loss of power...

Thats true.... when i replaced mine, it smoothed it out, but never did restore the power, bout the only thing i had left to test/replace was the injectors. Their impedence was fine, but they were probably not working very well. (and I wasnt going to spend $400 on injectors for that beat up car)
