hows it goin everyone. My name is CJ live in NY. I just picked up a 91 hatchback with a blown motor. Clean body no rust and couldnt give the deal up. $300 is what i payed. I want to swap and sr20 motor in. Where is the best and most reliable place to get one of these swaps. I dont need to get one and it be a crap motor. I just want some ideas where to go with this from people that have bin there done that. I have built cars b4 but the 240 stuff im not to familiar with.

Thank you

times have changed broseph, pretty much if you dont want to pay a fat chunk of change on one with all the crap that goes with it. ur out of luck.
i say this because after all the time iove been here and talked to and heard this or that...the company you want to go with in enjuku racing, they offer a package and its expensive but itll be a good motor.

and of course with the floods and disasters recently in japan, quite a few people have predicted the market becoming flooded with junk engines so, pretty much shop around, find a good price make sure everything comes with it and buy, then buy a new harness and get ready to fiddle with some wires, plugs and computer just in case. also set yourself up to be prepared to rebuild the over glorified sr when you get it if you want it to last longer than a black cat with a short fuse.

all in all, it isnt really worth it these days. now thats argueable of course...but i think its true when the ka24de boosted is a tough b****.

and again, it all comes down to this : MONEY, hoo wmuch do you have? how much are you ready to drop and how much are you ready to throw away.

PJ think your mistaken about enjuku and engines. They sell a swap package but it doesnt include a motor just parts and gaskets and such. Think the place you are refering to would be phase 2.

srtacr check the link that bad bob posted, but skip to the last page those are the most recent. I can speak from expierence with Zero Lift Autolab that they are good. I purchaced a S13 black top ( replacing my blown blacktop) a few months ago and finished the install last month and it runs great. Havent gotten to really pound on it yet, still breaking in the clutch, but the motor feels fine and sounds good. Turbo they sent was seized but I really didnt care b/c i had a new S15 turbo waiting to be installed.

PJ was right about buying a new premade harness. I got both the upper and lower SR harness from wiring specalites and wow, literally plug and play. No tracing wires or cutting just install and run.

you're right, i just checked the enjuku site and they only offer the swap package now. they USED to offer that package with a motor/trans chip and the rest though(granted the price was in the 4-4.5 range)...im pretty sure i talked to ken about it...but id guess that was a year ago probably.
but yeah, no longer. you sir are correct.

A decent SR20 swap will be more than 5k. Believe me. If you really plan on going SR or any engine, I'd suggest you get ready to build it. Engines are almost 20 years old. Something to think about also stated above is the flood in Japan which some jack rabbit will make a killer trying to rip good people off.

Back to my 240. cleaned it up today and actually got it running. kid i bought it from had oil pan unbolted and said there was a motor noise. Put it all back together and started it up and from what i can tell just by listening to it and driving it around the parking lot it sceems that the noise is comming from the clutch. when in gear it feels as if clutch is not engaging fully. got it in the air and noise comming right from the bellhousing. prob gunna pull trans and see if the clutch, tob , or PP. is th e problem

pics of the 240. sorry for the crappy pics

Is that a monstertruck?

Looks clean, especially for $300. Good deal, man.
