Hi my name is Steve I am currently living in Utah looking at getting rid of my wrx to get a 94 Q45. Can anyone find out the service history of the car that I am looking at if I provide them with the VIN. The car has 169K on it it has a salvaged title form a wreck at 24k miles it needs a power steering pump the guy said but I need to look at it closer. It is a AZ car so their is like no rust on the car but it needs paint.

Let me know if anyone can help me out looking up the service history thank and I look foward to picking up the car since the price is right.

Steve

A 16 year old vehicle with a Salvage title you gotta be kidding.

A total loss wreck with only 24K back then would have been $20-25,000 in repairs.

Might be worth $1,000 at best now with 169k.

Not sure dealers would have worked on a salvage title car since warranty would have been cancelled by wreck. Dealers purge their records after 7 years of not seeing a vehicle. Infiniti purges records after 12 years.

The point is a paid inspection by an expert is the only way to guess current status. Just be prepare for a minimum of $3k and no more than $10k in repairs and replacements to restore mechanics.

Well I decided against the car last night when the dude refused to budge on the price so I am looking again I have several I need to go look at this weekend. I found a 1 owner 94 with 81K on it but they want $5500 just a little out of my budget right now.

Give the guy a little time to stew. Unless he is a NICO member and has a file cabinet full of recipts. And has made sure the car idles perfectly, Rides like new and stops near new.

But get a Carfax on the car you want to buy then call the dealerships its been to to get the service history.

Ain't to many Q45 out there...are you dead-set on buying a late model Q? What about an older Lexus LS, Acura RL or BMW 7 or 5?

From your posts it seems Q45s are really overpriced in Utah. It might be worth your while to make a trip to southern California to buy a car. Prices are much cheaper here, and if the car has been in southern California all its life it is probably rust free. An exception would be a car that was parked outside very close to the beach that might have rust from salt spray. Take a look at the Orange County and LA County Craigslists or Recycler to get an idea of prices.
