In looking for some information about replacing my struts, I ran across this site and have found a great deal of information so I decided to join!
I have a 1995 J30 with 175,000 miles on it and have finally decided I am going to keep it for a while and will be doing a variety of repairs on the car. I bought the car when I sold my 300ZX after replacing it with my 1966 427 Cobra replica (see
http://www.londoncobrashow.com and
http://www.ohiocobraclub.com). I bought the car for a very reasonable price and really have done nothing to it aside from driving it and changing the oil.
But after four years and zero problems with the car, I have finally decided to fix it up a bit and keep it until the odometer sets some sort of world record... OK, well maybe not that long. The car has been reliable to the point of boredom (if that is possible) over the last four years so there is no reason to think it will not just keep on running. Amazing how well it runs and rattle free it is after so many miles.
This weekend I am going to give it a good once over, change ALL fluids, clean the MAS and throttle bodies and plugs. In a couple of weeks a mechanic friend of mine an I are going to go through the suspension (at least one strut needs replaced), align the car and replace the tires. Then I am going to pull the interior out, replace the gasket on the sunroof (as well as the truck and drivers door gaskets) and while everything is out, give it a good shampoo and conditioning of the entire interior.
While the interior is out I am going to put in a new stereo to replace the POS one that the last owner put in it. I have a Eclipse CD receiver (with the good six channel 8V balanced outputs, no internal amps), a four channel Xtant amp for the fronts and rears, a two channel Xtant for the sub, JL Audio VR650-CSI components for the front speakers, JL's VR525-CXI for the rears and JL's 10W12-4 for the sub that I will mount up to the back deck. Should sound pretty darn good.
Followed with some TLC on the exterior and it should be ready to go for years to come!
So there it is... I will be checking in from time to time for some information and advice.
ThanksRick
