so I have a '91 turbo z32... my problem is pretty simple. unless my car is warmed up to operating temperature, I can't drive it. at idle or in gear attempting to drive, the car bogs down and will stall if I hit the throttle to long. It also makes a gurgling type sound when I hit the throttle. the second I let off the throttle, there is an excessive amount of back firing and I want to call it smoke but I know that's a misleading term for what it is. on the ground after idling to op temps, there is normally a black substance that kinda looks like ash or soot but feels kinda oily. wt I want to know is if anyone else has had this problem and how they fixed it or if they have any ideas... I replaced the IACV, and coolant temp sensor coolant levels are fine. Thanks in advance to anyone that helps.

Dang...IACV was going to be my first suggestion.

I'm going to move this to the Z forum where you can get some more specific help on the matter.

And welcome to NICO!

Thank you. I have had the car for nearly a year and a half now and this is really the only problem I've had other than some cosmetics. but I'm stumped...

Do the 6 P's located "everything you need to know about the z32". It sounds like you have a few issues, obviously, but the first thing to check is the ECU for codes.

After that, check for corrosion at the connectors, see if the injectors OHM out correctly (10-14). Anything over means they are bad, period. Check for vac leaks, fuel pressure after the filter. Fuel pressure regulator and damper, make sure neither are leaking and are doing their job. Maf could be dirty, causing a bad read to the ECU.
