Hola. So i bought a 96 Sentra GXE today. Its not here yet, gettin shipped.

Bone stock as of now, 48k miles. Bought it for $3900. A lil higher then I wanted, but to me its worth it with gas prices goin insane. This one will be my commuter car but I dont see why i cant have a bit of fun with it. ^_^

I also own an 04 Subaru WRX STi(which is for sale btw) that has about $10k worth of parts... So it will be fun and exciting starting over again!

First thing Im getting are some wheels cause the stock steelies and hubcaps are just not gonna cut it. After that I'm thinking about possibly gettin an intake, and some strut braces.

Anyone have any ideas on how to further improve the fuel economy? Im not looking to get an exhaust, but If it will help I want one thats quiet.

Any suggestions are welcomed! Im not too sure how different this is going to be from my subaru! Front wheel drive will be quite a switch!

Welcome to NICO!

I/H/E will help gas mileage a bit, though you may be inclined to drive it harder. The intake does the most good in that respect.

Other than that it comes down mostly to how you drive it.

Post pics of both!

Weclome to Nico. the GXE wont be nearly as fun as the STI even with turbo but its a solid car. Happy Modding.

Sweet... Car finally came in today. Just had a question about it though... When it is first started, there is kind of a grind sound.. I was thinking it was ignition. Dont know much about em. It runs real strong and smooth. Just has that inital sound when started. Anyone know what this would be?

Ill get some pics once I get it registered and titled. can't wait to get the wheels and parts Ive bought for it on ^_^

Welcome to Nico as well

I/H/E does help fuel economy, spark plugs are definately underated. Maybe a pack of dual tipped. I bet they haven't been replaced in that 48k.

Other than that, look for ways to improve reliabilty, i.e Oil Catch Can... there are lot of posts up that show different projects.

Where does the sound seem to be coming from? Is it before it kicks over or while the starter is going?

It does it while is kicking over and for like a second after it fires up, then ya never hear it again. I got it registered now, so now that its at my house, Ill be checking it over in a bit.

Alright, doesnt seem like that bad of a deal afterall. Only took about $100 of parts(gaskets, oil, spark plugs, spark plug wires, K&N drop in filter and battery terminal connectors) to get it runnin smooth. Once I get everything swapped out, Ill update if its still making that grind at startup. Its a pain right now cause the negative battery terminal connector is broke, so it starts about half the time, lol. Guess Ill just have to suffer and drive the STi around a bit more ^_^.
