Hey everyone, a friend of mine just bought a 1989 240SX. I was wondering what type of motor he had in it? It appears to be a 12V I4. Any insite on it? Performance wise...

I'll take a couple of pics of it, and maybe you all can help out a bit :

Thanks in advance

Sal

Welcome to nico, well it has a single overhead cam,12v,inline 4 engine(89-90 240sx) that has 140 hp and 152 ft.lbs torque vs the DOHC(91-98 240sx) 155 hp and 160 ft lbs torque. Not too sure about performance, I've never driven a SOHC. but maybe others will chime in. For any needs, use the search button in the right hand corner. It will become your new best friend! Hope I helped, ask away if you have any other ?'s!

Also, another question... What style 240 do I have? S12 S13 S14... etc.

Also, lowering springs and struts... Which are best?

Thanks again,

Sal

personally, i've driven both types of motors, and imho, the sohc has more low end grunt, while the dohc does better on the top end. I might be biased tho, i've driven an 89 for 8 years now, and its been in the family since november of 88 (father bought it as soon as it came out). The other one i drove was a s14, so the s13 dohc might ride a little bit different.
