So I am in the market for a new car and was going to buy a Caliber SRT4 (please don't laugh!) I wanted something fun to drive that wasn't going to cost over $30k, but then my friend got a 06 m35x on trade (he's a dealer) and I couldn't believe how nice the car was, not to mention the price, @ $24,500 its a steal!!! After doing some re-search I fell in love with the sport model, and the 06 is in my budget. Is there anything I should be concerend about these cars, I no the gas milage isn't the greatest and the maintanence is probably expensive, but I think I can overlook that because it just on hell of a car for the price!!! Feedback is appreciated.

Welcome to NICO!

You will indeed love the car, as far as I am concerned. Nothing near it in quality and luxury for the price.

Thanks! I am really excited to find the right car, for the price your right, you can't find anything for the price! How's the gas on these cars? I know they take 91 or better, but I don't care about that. I was also considering the 300 srt8, but the gas milage on the car was absolutly terrible.

I don't think you need feedback .. it looks like you understand the M already!

I had the same choice of a 2006 M35X versus a 2006 sport model. I went with the X 'cause we get more than our share of winter driving around here. Then I added the aero kit.

Buy the one that blows your hair back and go driving!

The M35's all run just fine on regular gas....actually that's one of the reasons I now have an 08 after my 06 lease was up. I tried premium in my 06 for four tankfulls and I noticed no difference in power or fuel economy. I actually now put "no ethanol" regular gas in my M35 and I'm getting 19 mpg around town (it was 17 with the normal gas with ethanol).

There are only two significant problems with the 06 M's....the first is the passenger seat with it's limited adjustment which makes the seat uncomfortable for all. The second is more serious and pretty much limited to the sport and that's a problem in the front end where the car jerks and jumps when it hits a tar strip. Solution is a warranty replacement of the steering rack.
