-- I'd have to say I like my J30 better, wait, I love her dude, this aint no Acura forum. Really tho, and I 've said this b4, my heart lies w/ the J and my brain w/ the Legend. The Legend isn't a good handler but its no dog either(roughly 225hp w CAI), it's our daily duty car, it's bigger, has a TON more interior space, and it's in a little rougher shape than the J, which rarely sees rain and never sees snow. The FWD and massive size makes the Legend surefooted in all conditions, plus it reminds me of the Accord I grew up driving. My J is faster, in better shape inside & out, has a CAI & x-flow exhaust, 17in G35 rims, Sony sound system and Sirius radio. If it's snowy out, I'm taking out the family, going to the store, or have my dogs with me we'll take the Legend, otherwise J all the way. She cost me $3200 in 04, the Legend was $3600 last fall, they both were right at 135k, I feel I got fair deals on both. I love the styling of both cars, I will always drive Nissans and Hondas. Thanx for reading.

sounds cool Stevie.........when i was lookin for another car i was very interested in the legends and i found a preatty good one for like 1800....(selling it cheap because the paint was lime green....lol) but a friend of mine really was like, dont buy a legend cuz they have head gasket issues and they are hella exspensive to fix. myself i have been a fan of the look of acura's but i was told that nissans are more fun to drive. and i must admit this J30t is damn good fun to drive. i was lookin at the timeline and the price u paid for the two cars......isnt it crazy the resale value of the legend.

my fam has always been into toyotas so naturally my first car was a 85 camry. it may not have been fast but it was a damn well built car. i knew that when someone ran a red light n hit me on the front end. i was pissed but my car wasnt really that banged up. i drove it home and it just had a slight pull to the right. my next car was the cressida though........man i luv that car. i got one that had a auto-to-manual conversion done on it. the power of that engine for the car is nice. i actually got the j so that i can perserve it better n catch up on some work on it. i was lookin for a lexus gs because i knw more bout the engine. the I-6, rear wheel drive setup. same as the cressida. i didnt get a gs cuz they were out of my price range. the engine of the j does intimedate me a lil because of its size. but i cant wait to learn it. just hope its as sturdy as my cressida engine.thankz for reading

--Negus, I've never heard of the Legends having head gasket problems, that's a new one to me. I was more concerned about the transmission, but the one in my J has been rebuilt so we'll see how long the Acura's holds up, first to second isn't factory smooth, but that's the only issue. I hate to say this because I know there's a ton of Toyota faithfuls here, but I will probably never buy another one because of a Lexus es300 I bought for my girl, which was a total lemon. We pi$$ed like 5k on it, head gasket, brakes, hubs, the list goes on & on. I do like the GS, that would probably be the only 'yota I'd drive, but even the old ones are too expensive, I feel ya there. I knew Cressidas were rwd, but I didn't know their engine was a linear six.

--Yoda. Okay okay. Maybe it's a WAI(warm air intake), but it works well, sounds great, and looks a helluva lot better than dryer duct, so anytime you wanna run..... Seriously tho thanx for complimenting her looks, I take it to heart from a fellow J owner. I'd really like to get a custom intake manifold, maybe something that's still equal lengths on both sides, and make a vent below where the air filter sits and attach some sort of curved duct from the grille to the vent. I was thinking that something like part of the backseat driver's side floor air duct might work due to it's curved shape. Until then I'm gonna rock the WAI, lol.

That guy that ran the tube down to the turn signal opening is on the right track, I just wonder how one would deal with driving in a heavy rain like we get here in Texas.I bet yours has a nice Growl on a WOT !!

-- Yeah, I think that dude is flirting with disaster in the rain, being that his filter is so low. A duct with the right upward angle attaced to a vent might just work.

so, i am on winter break and i wanted to do some simple and inexspensive things to the J

first thing on the list is to clean the leather real good. now from reading the posts i hear either to use leatherique, meguiers or lexol.......i noticed that they range greatly in price.......meguiers the cheapest and leatherique the most exspensive. so like which one is better? does it depend how dirty your leather is??? i just want to buy something i really dont need. but i mean if there is a biiiiiiigggg difference in the quality of them then i would rather get whats better.

next i wanted to know how stevie made your "WAI" lol...... and the price it took to make it

last i was going to clean the MAF.....so whats the best thing i should use?

thankz guyz.

The thing about the rough idle is that it could be one or more of many things. I noticed a difference after I cleaned my throttle bodies. You just take the intake off of them and spray some throttle body cleaner in there. You'll see a bunch of black/dark brown gummy crap running out. Scrub/wipe them down, and throttle response and idle should be better.

There's also always the Idle Air Control Valve, which I've read just needs a couple sprays of WD-40. I couldn't get to mine (the hoses are stuck on pretty tight), but my idles not too bad.

The other thing, and I hate to say it, is the possibility of it being an injector getting ready to fail. I had a shaking/surging type of idle, and after I replaced the injector that eventually went bad, my idle is smooth and steady. I think the injector was just kinda putting out more fuel than it needed to at idle.

There are more possibilities, those are just what came to mind.

NG44k is famous for smoothing out an Idle.I cleans the crud built up on the injector nozzle. Also cleans the innards in case there something keeping the injector from shutting off completely.

I see you are online , Question. I was ( am ) pulling a 32 code ( EGR ) on my 95 J30.

I went in this weekend and pulled both EGR return tubes an clean the complete clogs out of both.

I was getting a slight surge prior to the cleaning , I was able to do one one day and the other the next , when I drove the car after cleaning one tube the car ran ( surged worse ) now with them both clean the surge is still worse then before cleaning ?

Your thoughts ?

I figure could be 4 things , poor vacume going to the EGR Solinoid , the EGR Solinoid , bad EGR valve , or the sensor on the drivers side EGR return tube.
