Car: 2000 Infiniti Q45 Anniversary Edition

Post

Well first things first, I'd like to say hello to all of you, I used to own a 1991 Q45, sold it after it got totalled to the guys that mow my lawn, now I have a 2000 Q45 Anniversary Edition, that was repossesed by a Pastor for failure to pay his payments, got it with 96K miles, for only $6K, and everything is clean, beautiful car, I loved my Old Q, and I love my newer one.

Well, here I am, seeking for upgrades to do on my 2000 Q45. Mainly I would like to know Speaker sizes for the rear, backseat, and front seat. Then I'd like to know if anyone here has made a Turbo or Supercharged VH41DE engine, or something that gave it extra horsepower. And if anyone has made a custom dual exhaust system (where it splits off in two sides of the rear, not just one side with two chrome pipes).

Help is always appreciated, and I hope I'm not breaking any forum rules here.

2 pics of my car (only have a camera phone )

Welcome! Nice find for sure. Well, I can't recall anyone turboing the newer model. I did see a supercharger in a newer one but can't remember what year. Elwesso can provide more information on that. I've done a rear mount turbo which I'm sure can be done on your model. Some don't like the rear mount option but I love mine. Still working on it but I love it so far.

I don't know about your model but the exhaust on the '94 is a true dual exhaust from the factory even tho it just comes out one side. Some have some done extensive custom exhaust on the older ones but have found them to not do much, if anything, to the horsepower. Yours may be a totally different story.

Welcome! Well, I can answer the speaker questions?

Front: 6.5"Back doors: 5.25"Rear: 6.5"

I'm in the process of changing my speakers out courtesy of eBay! I've already installed two alpine 4-way speakers in my front doors and it sounds so much better in the front. I can't wait to change out the other speakers.

Check out the VH and VK Forum for current projects on the VH41.

Be careful in that there are two different VH41 engines USA/Canada version and the ASIAN version which the guys in Australia an NZ work on.

Primary differences are in the runners, plenum and everything forward. AND exhaust manifolds.

Jeff Williams has a custom exhaust setup. It's nice.

I want to put some Polk Momo speakers, or the Infinity Kappa's, would these sound better than the Bose speakers? I'm also gonna put in a new amp because I get distortion at high volumes.

Would a Signal Processor help me prevent distortion?

Are you sure you have the Anniversary Edition? Mine says "Q45 Aniversary Edition" right on the trunk label - and it already has true dual exhaust..

I think you will have to do a lot better than Polk or Kappa to improve on the OEM Bose.

You will have to rip the whole system out and rewire to do better.

Infinity makes a pretty good speaker.

I'm looking into getting a set of Infinitys, JL Audio, or ALPINE speakers. Considering a nice subwoofer setup, but I'm on the fence about it. I want a nice loud quality system, just a skosh under "obnoxiously loud".

The man speaks truth. I went from a full 100% custom MB Quart and Eclipse system in my Lexus to the factory Bose system in my Q and was really not that unimpressed(although it doesnt compare in anyway. I will be building a system very similar in my Q hopefully here soon. But i replaced every single inch of the factory stereo wiring in my Lexus and it was 100% worth it. Sounded like a concert hall. I highly recommend looking into some MB's or some Focals for the doors if you want to keep on a budget. If not some Rainbows or similar will be out of this world.

Thanks for the info. I plan on spreading the purchase of the various components out over a period of time. Then, have the whole shebang done at once. Makes me feel better.

Glad to hear that someone's done it. If you go with MB the QSD is the series you want, if Focal you want Utopia. Also, Dynaudio and Diamond Audio make a very good product for front stage, Morel ......long list.
