Hi guys I just recently bought a 4x4 king cab 5speed hardbody. Super clean. On 33s. I have owned many 240s. I have put together and swapped Rbs. Srs. And turbo kas. So I know my way around the tool box. I bought this truck to stick with my Nissan roots. This website has been helpful in the past.

My issue. Vg30e 5speed 4x4 hardbody. When I give gas in 1st gear it shutters. Almost like the maf is unplugged. But is fine in a 2nd gear. And free revs just fine. It jerks pretty good only past like 20% throttle. Could this be a bad maf? Bad knock sensor and it's pulling timming?tps? Truck is one of the nicest hardbodys I have seen. I really want this fixed. Thanks guys. Pics to come.

I would give it a tune up 1st. for the shutter, I would check the center support bearing on the driveline, its a common on a 2-piece driveline.

what yr is the truck? do you have a CEL?

What is a CEL? It's a 93. It has a LSD in the rear. And dune grapplers if that matters.

CEL = Check Engine Light

The first thing that came to my mind was axle wrap, but I wasn't exactly sure what you meant by "shutters."

I checked the carrier bearing it's all good.No check engine light. Yea it has a 2 piece drive shaft. The engine is def cutting out almost like it's in limp mode. But you can ease on it and it's fine. I read something about some fuel conrol unit that goes bad and you have to mod it. Bypass it.it could be fuel cut. And Im also leaning toward the tps. And of you unplug the maf it dies. This normal? The s chassis would idle fine with no maf. Just ran in limp mode. Thanks for your help.

Sounds like clutch chatter maybe.

No I don't think it's that. 2 nd gear it's fine. Its def the engine bucking almost like a rev limiter. Thanks for the tip tho. Can't wait for this to be fixed.

I remember a few weeks back there was a thread in the NA KA section where a member's car was doing something similar. I think it was some transmission sensor that failed, and he just unplugged it.

Is there any chance you could dig that up and give me a link? Or do you remeber the title of the thread? I looked threw the threads turned up with nothing. Thanks for the help fellas. Cany wait to see the full potential of my truck.

Throttle position sensor or a bad vacuum leak someplace is what I'm thinking.

On the kas,srs,rbs if the car dies when you unplug the maf that mean a vacum leak. Is this the same with the vg30e? Is it closed loop?becuase my truck dies when I unplug the maf.

If I unplug my MAF sensor, it will run fine but blip out at like 2400rpm.

I can look again for that thread, but I didn't see it yesterday. If you have to, you can unplug the sensors on the transmission (except the reverse sensor) and try it. It is free of charge. I don't know which sensor is which, though. I will go try and find that thread.

Turns out it is axle wrap. Who sells traction bars? Would a helper spring solve my problem? Thanks guys

I'm not sure what kind of anti-wrap device would be best here.

I would say to make sure all the leaf spring bushings are not sloppy and have good shocks so that they aren't added variables.
