I know this isnt about the s-chassis, but I was told that the usdm GTR isnt a Skyline. When I thought about it, to me the RB makes the Skyline. I think the GTR has a VQ in it. Im just really lost on what the GTR is. Let the flaming begin

Are you for real? The RB is a 20 year old engine. The only older j spec motor that I know of is the 4g63. And Not all RB powered Skylines were GTRs. The USDM G35 is the Skyline in Japan and it uses the VQ. The USDM GTR may not wear skyline badges, but it is heir to the legacy and it sports the newest version of the Attesa ETS AWD system which is synamious with Skyline GTR.

Plus I hear that it may have higher performance specs than the JDM model, like a higher mph limiter, etc...

But for real, you need to search searching on your own. This thread is fail.

Correct, the USDM GT-R isn't a Skyline, and neither is the JDM GT-R. The Skyline name has been separated from the GT-R to make it its own entity, similar to what Toyota did with the Celica Supra in the 80's. They separated the name into two different cars...and look at the popularity of the Supra.

And the RB doesn't "make" the Skyline, it's just the motor that all the fanbois associate with it because they don't do their research on the car.

The GT-R goes all the way back to 1969 with the PGC10 Nissan Skyline GT-R (4 door) which used a 2.0L S20 inline 6 cylinder.

The engine is a variant of the VQ, the VR38DETT.

There is more to the GT-R than RB26DETT, ATTESA-ETS, HICAS, and R 3X chassis.
