Alright guys maybe I can get definite answer from you guys. I have a GT28R S15 has 774 Miles purchased brand new a little under a year ago.

about 3 weeks ago I was on my way to work when I come to a light when I noticed a little bit of whitish/bluish smoke from exhaust. I get worried so I head home trying to diagnose whats wrong unfortunatly didn't have time. At first I didn't suspect the turbo search results yielded possible Valve seals.

After that day I only drove the car 3 times that week for roughly a total of 25 miles, each time it kept getting worse and worse to the point where I blanket 4 lane intersections, did a compression test and yielded 160 across the board, spark plugs show no signs of oil contact. Than I noticed my red air filter turned black, removed it it was soaked with oil, their was oil in the compressor inlet and compressor outlet, my bov also was dripping tiny bit of oil. Also my muffler has some oil residue on the inside of the tip.

Now heres the thing the car runs like a dream, turbo still boosts hard and boost starts building 2200rpms full boost by 2700rpms before the problem ever started and still does, no weird noises, ABSOLUTLY NO SHAFT PLAY. Practically the only thing wrong is the smoke and puddles of oil in the compressor housing.

I have all SS Lines no leaks outside the turbo. After reading some more it turns out the problem is most likely from the oil drain, upon further inspection I noticed a kink in the oil return (stupid rubber hoses) so I ordered a bunch of stuff for the oil drain and a stronger silicone hose.

My question is do you guys think my turbo will be ok once I fix the oil drain situation and clean out the intercooler and piping?

this sucks cause its a brand new turbo unfortunatly I cant send for a warranty as it was purchased from Nissan Japan.

well the oil in the air filter came from the pcv system...which either means a bad pcv valve/hoses or u have compression in your crankcase. the oil in the housing is troublesome though and the smoke could be burned oil from the intake. though it seems u may of solved the oil in the turbo system.

considering the new turbo, i would try a leakdown test or running compression, since a basic compression test doesnt always mean a sealed combustion chamber.

oh and ull prolly want to post this in nissan tech chat...as this section of the forum is the domain of humorous over-weight asian fellows and post sluts.

but yeh, that much oil in your filter can be a very cheap fix or a costly proposition.

I run a standalone so my air filter is right on the compressor thats why theirs all the oil in the filter.

did both leakdown and compression came back amazing condition.

so thats why I believe the main problem is the oil return line.

I ordered some oil return stuff from ATP turbo so hopefully it'll fix my woes thats why I was asking if I fix the oil return if they think the problem will go away.

Well from your story it sounds like your turbo is getting oil but once it leaves the turbo it doesn't quite make it back to the oil pan. I think you will be ok just be sure to replace the drain hose with a stainless one and use better fittings, also make sure you clean the snot out of the BOV and all affected parts.

thanks DD, do you recommend I spray like carb cleaner in the intake manifold as well incase the oil reached that far, it seems like a little bit is only present in the BOV which is located on my cold pipe near the headlights.

oh well I'm just waiting on my parts from ATP, spent $70 on just stuff the fix the oil drain. Got new flange, special barb fitting for it, gaskets and little tid bits here and their and some hoses.

Yes I would reccomend that you take disconnect all piping (not remove) just un hook it and check the pipes out for any signs of oil. Where you do find oil wipe it out and spray carb/brake cleaner to break it up and try to wipe it out with a rag as well.

Do you have an oil restrictor in the oil feed line?

yes sir I have a 0.035" restrictor on the inlet.Always had a restrictor since day 1.

I was checking at how bad the kink was today and the line pretty much did a 120* kink. So thursday my kit from ATP should arrive and hopefully all will be fixed.

Hey "The_Chosen_one" I think I am having the exact same problem. I got the car knowing it smoked a little and expected it to be a valve or maybe piston ring, but the maintenance or labor at dealers is so expensive I want to try other options before they pull the heads off. Can you tell me if the new lines and everything solved the problem and if so where exactly you ordered them. I looked around some, but haven't had much time to find the right stuff. Last owner said slightly low compression in one cylinder (haven't checked it myself yet), white/blue smoke, oil smell, slow oil pressure loss, and a little oil showed up in the BOV's when i drove it home.

hmmm Dunn you may have a multiple amount of problems. Your low oil pressure can mean oil pump issues. Low compression in 1 cylinder can be several things, and oil smell can be from oil being burnt off. The whitish/Grey smoke usually means turbo as a darker blue will mean oil being burnt in combustion chamber.

Well to answer your question my smoking went away but unfortunatly it didn't solve my problem as the turbo is pretty much done. It shoots oil out of the compressor housing, which means the damage is done and irrepairable since its a Ball Bearing.

The oil in the BOV usually means turbo is blowing oil which means seals are done.

The lines I made myself just purchase about 6 ft of -6AN SS line, 3 14Mx1.5 to -6AN fittings, 2 90* 6AN fittings, 1 Straight 6AN fitting. For oil line I had a hydraulic shop make one I used a 90* 4AN with about 10" of straight SS line to a straight 4AN fitting.

I used a GT oil drain flange that helped fix the problem of my oil drain issue.
