Well, im concerned with the "leaks during idle and leaks under high boost"

The hks and the jgs claim their bov's DONT lea under idle nor under high boost simply cause of their design... Being a pull type bov..

And the greddy is a push type which is suppositly prone to leaks under idle and high boost..

I have the type s and its leaky under idle cause its missing one of the 2 inside springs from a previous mod to it, but now im not running my previous setup and i need that spring back but they dont sell replacement springs for this type s...

Im stuck having to buy a new type rs or the hks or the jgs type..

push type? how does that work? vacuum opens a bov right, how then does a push type work? the rs bov looks like it has the port pretty high, over the diaphram i'd guess which would make it a pull type.

Thats what i thought that vacuum opens the bov.. Then that would mean that it would stay open during idle..!!But i was wrong. What opens the valve is the change from pressure to vacuum in the diaphram. Then its supposed to shut once all the pressure is released...But my type s did not do that, it opened and stayed open during idle. Then i would get that whistle sound which is F"ing annoying...!!

mine leaks at idle and it doesnt bother me one bit, i also have the spring set at its softest setting so it will open fast when i come off of the throttle. I understand y leaking in high psi boost numbers is a problem, but why does it matter if it leaks at idle?~Sam

even tightened all the way? when the throttle plate is open there's positive pressure pushing both ways, at the vac line and at the bov's valve/piston. pressure is equalized so it stays closed. when the plate closes theres vaccum pulling on the diaphram and you still have pressure trapped inside the pipe pushing against the piston so it opens. like sam said it doesn't matter if it leaks at idle, but if it bothers you that much, try a stiffer spring or add some washers.

thanks for the link, i guess ill be teh first north tx member.

Well, im not sure if u got my post from b4, but i had internally modified this bov to run as a recir setup. Basically i opened it up and removed the inner spring. I was told to do this so that this bov would run properly in a recir setup.... ( freshalloy )But i seem to have lost that spring and now its stuck like this. But i wat return back to open atmosphere bov and i cant because of this problem im having...

I have tightened the bov spring all the way to close it during idle, but then it WONT open when i shift... Even after 15 psi, i get MAD compressor surge..

If I loosen it to where its open at idle and to where it opens like it should when i shift, then the bov starts to whistle while i release the pedal comming to a slown down...

While its leaking at idle, my timming is thrown off and the idle jumps around a bit and i get lean mixture's at idle... Once i close the bov, then my idle returns to normal, my timming sits at 20 degree's solid...!!

I think this bov is staying open during idle as a result of removing that inner spring, now there isnt enough tension on the valve to keep it closed even on 22 inches of vacuum....

Klatter1 sent it to me, I didn't steal it. It's from his site. So maybe I get to keep mine.

At idle my vacuum is at 18-19 inches with a bit rough idle and lean mixture's

When i put my hand over the hole OR tighten up the valve till its shut, then i get a full 22 inches at vacuum, idle stabalizes and a/f mixture goes to normal...

So i know the bov is leaky because of the missing spring... Did you remove the smaller or the larger spring..??If u took out the smaller, will u be willing to sell it to me..??

i would be willing to sell u it but i have to hold off on that until i fix my vacuum at idle. my idle is stable and my a/f mixture is normal at idle but i am currently getting -.45 hkpa at idle...............so when i fix that, then i can get ya the spring...........

BTW, i took out the smaller spring..

Let me know... I have someone else that also has that smaller spring, im just waiting on him to see if he will sell it to me...
