Hey guys! I recently bought a 96 z32! I'm super stoked, but unfortunately I won't be able to drive it for quite awhile. When I bought it, the engine was apart outside. On the plus side, it has 127,000 miles. If you guys have any suggestions for car parts then I'd like to know! :D
Also, how would you go about converting from AT to MT?

Fantastic buy. The conversion is fairly simple if you have basic knowledge of AT-MT conversions. Also there are some specifics olidlf you're considering going tt on the engine as well. Get the engine built to your preference. I highly recommend a new drive train and lsd. Will make a difference down the line. If you want I can send a link to the site where I bought my parts when I had mine.

Why would you want to change the drivetrain? The factory trans can handle 4-digit power and the the diff is a LSD already and can handle a ton of power as well.

My apologies I meant drive shaft. The old one may not be a direct fir for the new transmission. As for the lsd you can't be sure what kind of history it has. If you haven't driven it you can't tell if there are issues at a glance

Welcome, welcome! :wavey:

Yeah, the AT>MT conversion is pretty straightorward. Only real curveball is that the DS has a different spline count and a tad bit longer for the MT, IIRC. You can use the AT TCU, but you'll need all the MT parts. Pedal, shifter, trans, linkage, master/slave, lines, ect. You can make the harness work with a little engineering. Not too hard though. And the LSD isn't a common failure point on these cars. Assuming this one even has an LSD. Not all N/A's did, and especially in 96.

Also, I'm just gonna take this time to let you know the sig limit is 600px x 200px. Yours is way over that. Please resize it.

The diff will never be an issue as it handles far more HP than the NA will produce, there's a drag racer who recently has gotten wheels up and does it on the stock diff- not recommended of course, but the Z32 lsd isn't a weak link by any stretch. The drive shaft definitely will need to become a manual one to replace the AT unit, a common swap part. However IIRC the 95+ harness has the clutch safety circuit included so you can tap into that unlike earlier years.
