I saw a post on this lower in the boards, but my smell is somewhat nastier, along the lines of model rocket/fireworks nasty, am I wrong in thinking this could be a burnt out cat?

Hmmmmm.

Bad cat usually smells like rotten eggs.

Fireworks smell? Can you smell it more from the tailpipe or is it coming into the cabin?

Time for a VERY thorough inspection of the exhaust - Let us know what you see....

Ummms I can smell it from in and out of the cabin, and yeah they're right sulfur/rotten eggs smell, so we're thinking bad cat? Should I get an OEM replacement for now, or is it at all worth getting a high flow cat without upgrading the rest of my exhaust yet?

if your not planning on upgrading the exhaust then dont bother with the hi-flow cat...also if u are not planning to turbo charge your car a hi flow cat doesnt make much sense to begin with...go with the oem replacement its best quality even though it costs a lil extra

Well I understand that, I'm just not sure what route I'm taking yet, I want to buy another ka and rebuild it for a turbo set up, just haven't decided on everything yet. And I dunno, the cat rattles some too at idle sometimes, I'm just not sure its exactly rotten egg smell.

Gut it and be happy you don't deal with emissions.
