Well some of you have read my questions about my 1996 white q45. I bought it on eBay about a month ago. I knew the cars ac and heat were not working before I bought it. Also I was aware of a small dent on the front right fender and another on the drivers door. The car has 66k on it and carfax seems to agree with it.
Anyway, I finally flew to NY and picked it up on May 19th. I have to say. The engine is smooth as silk. The exterior was full of pollen. And the interior seemed a little older than the pictures. Overall, pretty much what I was expecting.
My plan is to drive to Louisiana over the next couple weeks. So the first day we drove to Erie, PA. I discovered the car's driving like a boat. And driving without AC is going to suck balls. Anyway, I make it to eriewithout a glitch.
The next morning we drove to Niagara Falls, Ontario for a couple days. Had some Canadian beer and looked at some flowing water from every concievable angle. And then began the trek back to Erie for a couple more days. On the way back to Erie. I was going down a long hill so instead of using my brakes I decided to downshift. My speedo decided it wanted to stop working and lovingly began resting at zero regardless of my speed. Also I've noticed my tach begins to shake when my speed approaches 80mph. Anyway thanks to Tomtom. I can guess my speed so I continue on to duty free shop. On my way to US/Canadian border my speedo came back to life. The tach is fine until I approach 80 mph still. But everything seems to be back!
When we got to Erie. I was able to wash and wax my car finally. This is my way of inspecting my car. Overall, the car was what I expected. I was able to remove the ambient temp sensor and clean it and qits connecter. And I now have AC!
after a few days back in Erie. We drove to Nashville, TN. No problems except a speedo that may not work for the first few mins of highway driving. But then everything goes back to normal.
So finally we're in Memphis today. We visited The King and Beale Street last night. Had the bes ribs in the world. And later today we're off to Hot Springs, ARK. then back home to Louisiana in a few days. I have to say driving this G50 is sheer pleasure. With the exception of the drivers seat. My tailbone is killing me! I'm averaging about 21.9 mpg. And spending less than $4 per gallon in most places.
