The boots are EXPENSIVE... They are about $80 for the whole thing.....Flagship-Q wrote:Aren't they going for around $260 on ebay w/o the boots? Are the rubber boots worth $100? Just curious.
Yes they are because they keep shock piston rods clean and thus the shocks last longer. Though Joe's kit might have included bump stops or upper shock mount rubber. In any case, you should look at all the rubber (roll bars, end links, steering rack mount) and have on hand to replace as it will reduce repeated labor charge. Joe will accept unopened packages for returns.Flagship-Q wrote:Aren't they going for around $260 on ebay w/o the boots? Are the rubber boots worth $100? Just curious.
Yeah im not sure what is all included in Joes kit, but I asked him and he says he can get you just the shock for about $60 each + SH. I had to get just one shock because my shop blew one installing the springs.. .maxnix wrote:Yes they are because they keep shock piston rods clean and thus last longer. New shocks are good, but new shocks and new rubber is truly amazing.
More importantly, are the bump stops, which is part of the boot, which I found out when my car was at the dealer and they confused my Q with another one that looked like mine. They replaced the blues I had done 3 months before to blacks and they didn't put back the bump stops. Every time I went over a big bump, it would bottom out and the wheel would scrape in the wheel well. They changed it back to the blues and put new bump stops. You can reuse the old ones if they're not in bad shape, but you might as well change them. In the whole scheme of things, what's another $100.maxnix wrote:Yes they are because they keep shock piston rods clean and thus last longer.
