Hi all,
So I recently took ownership of a 2012 G37 Manual Sport Convertible, which I love. A couple of things I want to ask you experienced owners:
After 300 miles, I found the fabled dings on the roof panel from a faulty folding hard-top mechanism that needed repairing, and the hood hydralics recalibrating. This week it went back to the dealer for repair, and I was given a G37 Sedan Auto, with 11k on the clock. Needless to say I didn't feel too concered about putting the hammer down and seeing what it had, and oh my, it feels soo much more powerful and responsive in every gear compared to mine. Obviously I haven't hammered mine yet, but I have given it the odd toe through the first few gears upto 5,000rpm, and it feels so much less powerful.
I know the convertible is slightly heavier, and it's a manual Vs an Auto, but it's the same engine, and the only other reason for this power hike is the fact that the Sedan is properly broken in. Thoughts?
The other thing is this ECU reset. I've read lot's, and the concensus seems to be that the soft reset using the pedals works. Will I see such an increase in power upon the reset that it feels like this loaned Sedan? When should I consider the engine worn in enough to perform the reset then try pushing the revs? Some forums have said 600 miles, whereas the book says 1,200.
Thanks in advance,
Paul.
