Hi all,

Just got a 2004 G35 6MT Coupe. Its got about 28K miles on it so its just broke in! Its my first performance car ever and the first stick I have driven in years. Im not used to judging distance yet and I gave 1 of the 18in rims some curb rash. Can this be buffed out? Also, I plan on taking it to an Infinity dealer and seeing whats left of the warranty and if they can pull the maintenance sheet on it. Id also like to get the front paint touched up and put on a 3M clear bra. I also want to get some deeper exasust tone(glass packs maybe?). I have done some reading on the site but had trouble locating info on these issues.

Thx all

Congrats on your new G!!Check with your local dealer to see if they have somebody that works on rims. Check with the used car manager, he might know. The infiniti dealer here has somebody that touches up curb rash on used cars. There was a recent thread on invisible bras, might want to search again.

HI, dgresko! Welcome aboard!Glass paks do even come close to the quality of the stock exhaust. Get a good system like Stillen plus many, many others too long to list, if you do anything at all. This is not a Chevy or Ford.If you are not willing to spend some bucks on quality parts then leave it stock, you could do a whole lot worse. But parts that will make it 'go' as well as sound good are not cheap. You should know that up front. And it is an Infiniti not Infinity...(common error.)

Do lots more reading here and other 'G35' forums and see what others have done. You will learn a lot and have a blast besides! Welcome to the world of the G35, hang on tight!

I would have to agree with ezflow on the glass paks. I had them on my 69 Mach 1 back in my high school daze. Yeah, and I wouldn't even put them on my current FORD. Do as ezflow suggests and search around a bit. I would try to find some others locally that have modified their exhausts so that I could hear what I'm buying. Good luck!!

New G35 owner, here is your list. First of all, check with tire places for rim retouching. You can expect to pay $70-120 per rim and get 3-4 day service.

Replace the brakes. They suck. Unless you have Brembos.

Replace the intake. K&N drop-in is the easy way out, but a Stillen air box w/ K&N cone filter or a JWT Pop-Charger is the way to go, or go all out and get a CAI.

Either replace the upper plenum (Kinetix or Crawford), lower plenum (Motordyne MREV), or add a spacer. If you do a spacer and the MREV, get an ECU flash or a piggyback unit to make sure you run the right air/fuel mixture.

Replace exhaust components. Start with the cats. Kinetix makes them for $350/pr, but there are better ones, expect to pay up to $1100 for the pair though.

Headers are next. Megan Racing starts at $180 shipped, Stillen starts at $600 or so. You can spend even more, but you will get the same results.

I urge you to consider the Stillen Cat-Back exhaust. There are many options. Get stainless, imo.

Get strut tower bars. VRT makes a front strut tower bar that goes in front of the plenum. Great if you want to go SC later. Minor airbox fitment issues. You should be using aftermarket by then anyway. I think Greddy makes a STB set too.

Sticky rubber. Options are numerous. Avon makes good tires that are cheeeeep.

There's many schools of thought regarding coilovers. Do some reading.

Welcome aboard, and get ready to spend about $1000-2000 right off the bat. Nissan did a crappy job of getting this car ready for the road.

Thx for all the info! It does have the Brembo brakes, so thats good. I did find a dealer who can take care of about all of the things I had asked.

I am also looking at some parts for the furure: A nice deep exhust(still looking. I dont want the typical loud whine sound), also found a part that replaces both the intake and exhaust manifolds, which I am contemplating. I will post some info on the parts soon. Im also adding pics of my new baby!

MUST....RESIST.....I....WILL....NOT....NOT respond to another KN vs. OEM filter thread.

KN makes better sound, lasts almost the life of a vehicle and is perfectly fine.

OEM filters a little better, is cheaper up front and is quieter.

Both make the same HP.

Do what you want with the intake filter, it makes no measurable difference.

Lose 20 lbs off your gut and you will gain more than any intake will do on this car.
