Hey all,

I just purchased a 2005 G35 Coupe with 42k miles. Lakeshore Slate outside, Wheat inside, Automatic. Because I know you all care, I just want to say how much I love it! It replaced a 2001 PT Cruiser that I'd driven since 2003, so you can imagine the difference. Naturally, I've included a picture:

This forum was very helpful in the buying process, so now I turn to you again! Forgive me if similar posts already exist, but I just wanted to know what tips you guys had for maintenance. How often do you change your oil, and what oil do you use? Have you found your local Infiniti dealer to be a reliable place for regular maintenance, or do they rip you off like my mom's Lexus dealer? The local Jiffy Lube was fine for my old car, but would you trust them with your G? I'm fairly knowledgeable on things, but let's just say that I'm not really used to caring for a fine automobile.

Thanks for all your help!

Welcome to NICO and congrats on the new ride...that's a serious upgrade!

:dblthumb:

Alot of guys go synthetic, Royal Purple is popular and I think some also use Mobil1

If you're going to use dyno oil, some guys go to the Nissan dealership as they're cheaper then Infiniti. I would steer clear of Jiffy Lube and the like :eek

You'll get LOTS of mixed opinions on oil, oil change etc.. as for me, I tend to change my oil every 4500km's (yes I said km's...I'm a Canucky) Oil is the lifeline of a car, so keep her clean!

Did they not supply you with the booklet/manual??

I do have the manuals, but I always like to hear what real-world people do. It recommends synthetic 5W-30, but I know that everyone has their preferences (or my brother, who insists that all oil is the same). I have heard good things about Mobil1.

There are lots of opinions here about oil and other topics but I use

I change my own oil every 3500 miles or so using a Nissan Oil Filter and my G 35 has had 35 oil changes thus far.
No need to spend big bucks for oil that is going to be changed every 3500 miles.

I use 5W-30 whatever is on sale

Just my $.02

do it yourself, keep all receipts (oil/filter) and document date/mileage :dblthumb:

Exact same for me except searching for ramps and using 10w30.
