Hello Nicoclub, I just got a G35, and I've noticed that there were a few problems.
The first on is the hood, it keeps catching on the fender. I searched up about it, and saw all you could really do is lubricate the hinge. Replacing it requires taking off the fender. Is this true? It is the driver's side if that makes any difference.
Also, I have some front end clunking. I get this problem in park as well. I haven't really tested it out, only on my sloped driveway. Could it still be a suspension issue such as the bearings?
Thanks.

Did you have the vehicle inspected at an Infiniti dealer prior to purchase and have the dealer run the VIN number for a vehicle history?
Sounds like perhaps your vehicle is an accident survivor?

Accident report looked good.
Did not get the infinity dealer to look at the car
If it is an accident survivor, anything wrong?

If your hood is catching on the body, I would agree with Telcoman that an accident (maybe minor - and diy repaired?) is likely the reason. Otherwise it would be some other botched body work/modification that was reverted prior to sale. Obviously the car didn't come like that from the factory.

As for the suspension, you're going to need to investigate more and give more details if you want others to have any hope of offering reasonable advice. "Front end clunking" isn't a lot to go on.

Good luck with your investigation,
Lars

I also have a front end clunking on my 2003 G35 sedan. It appears to be coming from the driver's side front over bumps and rough roads. Don't have a local Infiniti dealer so have used the Nissan guys who took 2 hours to find nothing. Clunking has been going on for over three years now but doesn't seem to affect driveability in any way. Tire wear is even, tracking and suspension are good and road holding is normal. Everything "down below" is tight and clean so the clunk remains a mystery. Over normal roads it doesn't happen at all even on tight corners.

Eh, someone probably dropped a wrench or screwdriver down in there ;)

On a more serious note, does it happen when the front wheels are moving at different times?
(Like a clunk when going over a speed bump at an angle, but not when you approach head on)

I've seen the hood hinge issue without an accident before. A friend has a 2005 G just like ours, and has it. I think one of the pivot points on the hinge seizes from lack of lubrication, and then the hinge bends when it's opened. I lubricate my hinges every time I change the oil after seeing this. The old Q45s had a similar issue, sometimes causing owners to "taco" a hood when trying to close it if they used too much force.
