89 240sx hatchback109,400 mi.

background: i recently (a week ago) had my oil pan changed and the mech. said he found what may have been a guide from my tming chain swimming in the pan. i didn't care though because it made my chain quiet after weeks and weeks of hearing the chain slap wildly against my engine components.

the issue: i found out that my brake lights (high mount and the scond element in the combination lights) were out. so i checked the stop light switch fuse to find that the fuse was missing and one of the prongs from the fuse appears to be jammed in the socket and i can't pull it out!

the question: can i cut the wires back from the fuse box and rig my own fuse socket outside of the fuse box? i don't think it should be too hard to accomplish if that idea could work.

thanks.
