Seriously!

I just spoke with toxik, and unfortunatly not everyone is about CONTENT, but wants snazzy menus lol...

To change the format of the forums is something very time and labor intensive... The benefits are very small, basically just an improved "look" with no real other advantages.

well not only that the graphic design of the site definetly needs an upgraded look... a new forum format would also add new features, not only snazzy menues.

this would only give the site a more professional look.... im just saying, every competitor's forum looks more modern than NICO.... and I wanna be proud of my home forums

Maybe that's because they have time to make things "pretty" - Easy to do when you only get a few visitors a day...

Any suggestions for updates / changes are certainly welcome. However, we expect people to "pitch in" when they do so, because staff are stretched thin just keeping this ship hauling a$$.

id love to help out personally, but just like the forum staff, my time is also stretched with my job, school, and private life. i guess i'm referring to an upgrade as almost something the forums owe to its community... if that sounds selfish or not something people agree on, then i guess its just me.

I like the forums now the way they are. No need for anything snazzy-- like LBC said, it's about the content!

Honestly why fix something that is not broken? It is user friendly IMO, not to much is going on which makes surfing this website a breeze.

I suggest you use the firenico plugin that adds feature to the site and on top use the RIP plugin for firefox to reshape the forum to your liking, that's what I did and now it looks nice

+10 the firenico plugin is ACES in my book.. i love the quick reply, the smileys, the "hide a thread" and everything else about it!

Specificity is important here.

"Upgrade" isn't something we can implement without knowing what it is you feel you're being deprived of.

Not to be snotty, but everyone's "busy"... Especially when there's work to be done. My schedule would make you wet your pants.

The only upgrade/improvement that I can think of is the addition of 'private messages'.

Sometimes it's a hassle to open up whatever your use for your e-mails, click the person's profile, find their e-mail and send it out.

But besides that, I gotta agree with:

pm's are cool but what happens is that info is passed there rather than posted on the forums... so someone like doc or apple would get endless pm's instead of people posting questions...

I'm on 10 other forums from Mac forums, car forums to AT&T forums and agree the PM feature is a great tool for members and MODS. From stupid questions to help for shy type members...Forget pretty layouts +1 for Private messages!

I actually think NICO is the best and easiest to use site out of all the forums I visit...the only thing that it could use would be a quick reply (don't tell me to use FireNICO, I'm at work).

well, a thread preview option would be nice. where you can see the first line or so of the OP's post and not have to click when there's useless information that is compeltely unrelated and brought on by the misleading topic title.

something along the lines of a box that comes up when you move the mouse to the title and instead of repeating the title again, it would give the first line(s) of the first post to see if any else would be interested in the topic enough to click.

It takes a little getting used to, but I cant see being without it now.

Dont like a thread? X it out!

Quick view threads, make friends, quick reply... its ACES!
