ok, i went to D1 Grand Prix in December out in irwindale, and there were many 240sx's representing drifting there. One thing that caught my eye that almost all 240's brought from japan to compete was their headlights, kept sleepy eyes, but had a different lamp the size of my 2 fingers, and these were brighter then the OEM lights we have here, anyone think of how we can construct something like this here?

I saw the same car you are talking about (I was there too).

Basically, all it is is a bunch of metal/alum brackets - we can probably get some at home depot. Then they just mount on fogs/driving lights, piaa's come to mind.

It has, in many different variations. The practical reason why more ppl don't do this is because most of the time, these lights actually don't work better than a reg h4 conversion (unless you get very expensive ones, which most of the time you just use to enhance, not replace existing lighting.

The other reason is that ppl are lazy... and it it permanently like this - i.e. you can't fully retract if you wanted to...

Mounting: like I said, all you do is use some brackets.

One 90 degree one, one straight one that will mount approx 45 degrees connecting to it on one end, and the headlight frame on the otehr - that will be what holds the position of the headlight cover.

The next brackets will be put directly onto the headlight frame, so to speak.

This is exactly how that headlight you have a picture of is done... I looked at it when I was there.

Wiring... all it is is a negative, low beam & high beam, not rocket science.

If you looked @ the setup more carefully, you'll see that it is an extremely simple design. It's "jdm"... doesn't mean it's "hard".

Why don't you explain how you mounted yours to satisfy Seto's curiousity ... if you haven't already done a diy write up.

Those are ugly as sin anyway, why would you want that? It may look cool and different lit up at night and all, but it looks like a Wal-Mart Mod. I am just a stickler for detail i guess, if it isnt done the right way, and look clean when done, leave it alone!! Just my 2 cents

There nothing JDM about these...more like Auto Zone special........ something like these is just for looks, very unsafe to try driving with a setup like this at night.

I've had this conversion done to my car for quite a while. It's easy and simple to do. It's just a matter of which wire was low and which was high. As for mounting, yeah, it's just about having the right brackets and taking the time to do it. And as for visibility, i see far better with them then my friends Silvia converted car, and better than the stock flip up that had been converted to 9003 bulbs.

As for looks, that's just a matter of preference. Personally I don't much like the silvia conversion on a h/b, but people still do it. Also I did this to my car back in October and ever since I've had countless people ask me how and within the last 4 weeks I've seen at least 6 cars with it.

We all do things for a reason that we like, not what others like. And its the differences in choices that make each stand out. That's why I don't like going to HIN anymore. Every damn car is exactly the same because they have all become to mainstream, nothing setting the next apart. If we all liked the same things and we all agreed on the same things then we wouldn't be human.

Overall do what you want, because you want to, cause if you like it who the hell cares what your neighbor thinks, right?!?!?!?
