Finally got my new exhaust today. It's a 5zigen ProRacer A-spec. Had a word with a 5zigen rep today and he showed me a dyno chart of his stock ka with just an aem intake and it putting down another +15hp and 8lbs at max gain. Gains were all over the place and best of all, it conforms to the new jasma standard at 92db max. Here's the page that 5zigen has on their Japan site. http://www.5zigen.co.jp/produc....html

I'll post up pics later this week when I get home to install the badboy!

Nice. Did you get to hear how it sounds? And how much was it? I got a 5Zigen miracle on my car, although its just the exhaust. I wanna get a BRM exhaust after I get an SR20. Heh, getting excited thinking about it.

Yeah I spoke with Alex at a local shop. I got it for 520 out the door. I haven't installed it yet as I had a digital design lab to go to and I don't have a garage to install it right now but Alex said it's pretty quiet. I'll be able to get around to the install probably tomorrow if I have some time, either that or friday afternoon after I go to a muffler shop to have the two pieces welded together. My only complaint so far is that the muffler section is too far back so it's easily stolen unless welded together. Oh and if you do decide to get it, you should get it soon as there are only 10 so far in the US and at least 4 of them have been sold already.

I got a Greddy last August and paid 525 out the door from MPR (http://www.morepowerracing.com) they are in washington and shipped it for free, but the tip is a little big (5 inches), but that is another option for a non turbo ka. Sounds great too.just my two cents.

Ok got the exhaust in last night with a new catco. Performance is very noticable, but what I didn't notice was the noise. It basically sounds like stock at idle, and lets out a low deep rumble at higher rpm. Versus my old GP, it gives more low end but doesn't give as much at the top end.

I got it from a local performance shop. The reason I got it so cheap was it was minus shipping (hence local) and I also paid cash. Also I had a word with the shop owner Richie and apparently the third one, the last one he had in stock has already been sold. One was for his shop, one sold to me, and the other to some other local guy. I can ask him when he'll get more, but probably the guy to talk to would be Alex at 5zigen USA. Basically if you call 5zigen USA and get a guy who speaks perfect English, that should be Alex lol.

Hehe, I have a contact at 5zigen and he said that they still have 7 left in stock. He said if they ran out, they'll be getting another shipment next month, so I guess I dont have to rush it.

SO what does that exhaust eliminate under the car?

Ok so finally got the pic ul'ed to my pc. I called my buddy again, and he said that if people want it, then it'd be 625 shipped anywhere in the 48. They apparently retail for 725.

92DB? If your reading those specs, it must be for an SR20det.

IF you put that exhaust on your KA24DET its going to be allot louder.

Don't turbos muffle the exhaust sound? As for the 92db, it's possibly below that. Seriously, at idle you can't tell the difference in the cabin. At rev, it makes a nice low rumble, nothing loud or possibly irritating while it does let you know that it's there. The piping is a modest 70mm and it's full stainless construction. The welds are very good too. The tip is I'm guessing about 100mm or so (I should seriously take a ruler to it).

The resonator section of the exhaust looks alot like the midpipe section of the Greddy exhausts, and that too is polished. This weekend (again) I'll take some pics of the underside to show you guys how it looks from the bottom. Looks pretty good and is certified by the new Jasma spec which has the limit set to 92db. I'm fairly certain it's below that.

It's an NA for now, but this summer my SR is going in. Do note though that the +15 hp was gained by Alex at 5zigen's NA 240sx with just an AEM intake. I'm not sure if it's rwhp or if it's at the flywheel though.

doubt he took the engine out to measure flywheel hp gains of a exhaust and intake. anyway i was just wondering because i am getting a similar sized exhaust that will be going on my N/A KA until i go turbo and wanted to compare noise level

Hmm, not too sure if it's just the piping that makes a difference. The materials that are used in the muffler section, resonated or not, if it's just a bump in the piping type resonator or the type that this exhaust uses (like the greddy) will all change the sound of the exhaust.

yea, i kno. im looking at the RS*R exmag GT-II. i heard its not to loud. but im afraid of the 80mm piping sounding like a 18 wheeler with no exhausts.
