I just bought an 05 G35 coupe AT. I have been looking at different exhaust systems on the web, but man they are pricy. I know there are already alot of ? about exhausts on here but I have ? too. I was wanting to take of the resignator completely and put on a flowmaster delta 40 muffler. Any advice if this would work, can i run true duels with two mufflers, whats the reccomended pipe size, will running flowmasters with or without the resignator effect my car, will this give or take power from the car. I dont want a ricey sound, kinda want a good roar. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I took the resonator out of my exhaust and replaced it with a piece of pipe.....DON'T DO IT!!! The sound was soooo rice, it made me sick. After some thought about it me thinks that a short "cherry bomb" type straight through muffler would be a good bet. Before you take off the midpipe to change the res., make a jig or do it on the car with both ends still attatched. The pipe lines up just right and is easy to twist or weld a little croocked or anything and it won't line up or will hit the underside of the car. The exhaust I just put on was a true dual with "H" pipe, it has a resonator on each pipe right after the cats after the "H" pipe and a muffler on each side at the rear. Hope any of this helped. Congrats on the buy and Welcome!!

Hey thanks for the advice. I just put on an injen cold air intake and it sounds sweet has a little rumble now. I guess I wont be taking out the res then because I realy dont like that ricey sound. It has more of a muscle car sound now.

Go with the Stillen or Greddy EVO2 exhaust. You'll like the sound of either.

Greddy is a low deep sound, and loud as hell at WOT, but no rice.

Stillen sounds like stock at idle, but is the same tone as stock but a lot louder at WOT.

If you're going to replace the resonator, don't use a flowmaster in its place. While my observations with them tend to be wioth muffler replacements, one of the bigger issues is still the same. They simply do not flow well. They are a chambered muffler and will probably flow a little better than a typical OE muffler, but they do not compare to a good straight through design. Magnaflow and Walker Ultraflo mufflers are usually my pick. Interestingly, even with being a straight through muffler, they are better at suppressing noise as well. Flowmasters tend to be annoyongly loud and droning. Might not be to bad as a resonator, but the flow issue would still deter me from ever using one.

On a side note, I'm running a Magnaflow muffler on my truck and I do like the quality and thought put into it over the UltraFlo. Particularly with the Offset inlet/outlets. Instead of just welding a straight perforated pipe through at an angle from the inlet to the outlet, it uses a mandrel bent perforated pipe that smooths out the directional changes within the muffler. Though, I'm not sure if this is done in their smaller mufflers as mine is pretty big (Replaced the rather large Titan muffler).
