New EX35 with 650Km's (demo)

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

Hi All,

So I've been looking to buy a 2009 EX35 forever now, and have finally located one that is almost 800Km's away! (Supply is very limited)

It unfortunately has 2 strikes against it:

1) the hood has been scratched by vandels. The dealership has said it will be fixed 100% by removing the hood and repainting entirely. He has also sent me pictures of the scratches for me to see myself. I don't think this is that big of a deal if it is properly fixed, but what advice can you guys give me on it?

2) It was apparently a demo car It only has 650Km's so doesn't seem that bad...however the fact that it WAS a demo car concerns me. In particular, the break-in period. There are clear instructions in the owners manual on how to best break it in for at least 2000km's. Also, because I will be driving it home 800Km's away, I will need to ensure I follow the break-in procedures as well. What are all your thoughts on the fact it's a demo with 650km's on it? Any advice?

The price offered is attractive. MSRP is ~$53k (full load) and quoted price was $44,215 cash. The reason they will give me this price is only because I qualify for the VPP program (www.vppcanada.ca) which qualifies me to get it at dealer list minus any incentives.

It is one of the color combinations I like (Black with Chestnut Interior). So what do you guys think?? Is it worth it? Please give me your opinions and any experience/advice you have with such a situation.

Cheers!Ryan

I have never believed in buying Demo's. Dealers do not recieve any factory incentive, allowing them to sell a Demo for any less than a non Demo. The only differance is the margin kept by the dealer. I could not live with a re-paint of the hood, the miles, etc., etc.

If I had to pay $1500 more for a non demo, I would. This is a lot of money, you want to be very happy with your purchase, if you have any problems, you will be kicking yourself.

Good luck, the EX35 is a great vehicle and yes, they are thin, very few available in California, but I think you will find a new one and at a great price.

I am going to have to go with Scott on this one. The demo part of this equation would bother me the most. Painting the hood is something I could probably live with. If I was getting an insane deal I might overlook the demo part, but it would have to be a major discount. The reason that it probably has not sold is because it is a demo would be my guess. To me a demo is a used car, so I would approach the dealer as such. Look at it from that point and if you think that the deal that they offered you is good for a used 2009 EX35 with low miles then go for it, otherwise I would look elsewhere. I had to travel hundreds of miles to buy mine and my EX35 was shipped even more hundreds of miles to get to that point for me to purchase. It is not easy to locate one of these little beauties, but they are worth it
