Well I was coming home from Big Bear Ca. to Long Beach today and blew the motor in my 94 Q

So I think what I want to do is go to one of those jdm motor places where they import them from japan with 35k or so on them and have one put in.

Does anyone know of any of them within like 50 miles Long Beach, or have done this?

Thanks for the help

Now go change your oil cause if you dont you will have spun rod bearings and bent rods like me

just because it has 35k on it doesnt mean its a good engine!!! The main thing you want to do when inspecting any engine is pull off the passenger side valve cover and make sure its clean... should be nice metal or maybe a slight brown hue to it, if its a dark brown or black its not gonna be a good engine...

my point is, dont go JDM just because it says "30-60k miles", because it may be much worse off than anything else.. An engine with 100k miles that looks clean internally likely has another 100-120k left in it...

Sorry to hear that- how many miles were on your car/engine? How long was the oil in use?

Safest{and possibly most cost effective} to just purchase a inexpensive good running entire q45 and either swap its motor into yours{and keep for spares other parts or sell them} or swap any newer parts from yours onto the new one if you find one in overall better condition than yours.

JDM or domestic takeouts are a crapshoot at best- aqnd I am always leary that EVERY jdm is claimed as 30-60K miles old

Your 6,000 mile oil WAS NOT what caused the engine to blow.

Hey how was Big Bear? I was there 2 weeks ago, but did not dare to take my Q up there and put her through the snow and the salt. Sorry for your car, but at least you had fun driving it down the mountain, and I am sure you had a little fun in the snow too which contributed to your engine failing

Dont know how close you are to sacramento. or if you up for the work, but i have a 132,xxx 93 motor outta my 2nd Q. Hit me up if you interested. I dont know what it would take to swap. Or if its worth it. I know that the previous owned (who was the origional sence 93) had the chain guides done. And unless they are retarded they should have replaced them with the steel ones.
