I just got a new engine for my altima and i was wondering on how long should i give the engine to break in before i really start putting the pedal down?? its 2 days old and so far i have put 12mi on it, and do you think using premium gas would help it on breaking in? also i used synthetic on my other engine and now im thinking on going synthetic again so should i just wait till my first oil change?

any advice would help.

1. Breakin, now that is a good question. Some say, break the engine in like its going to be driven. Others say you need to break it in anywhere from 500-1000mi. I did a 500mi break in on my WRX. Didnt run the A/C, nor cruise control, nor full throttle. 2. Fuel- I always run premium on my 3.53. On my WRX I used synthetic oil from the second oil change. Semi synthetic on both of my altimas. I would use it after the next oil change, the conventional oil isnt going to hurt it.

ok cool thanx alot.. i have been driving it normal for most part. i was thinking to drive it out of town.. not to far out like 50mi out. so back and forth would give it 100mi so im thinking ill do that once a week. as for the oil change , thats what i thought just to wait till the first change. and the gas part i just filled it up with premium it just runs better anyway.

thanx again.

cheers on the WRX! ive been looking into those and the EVO,my bud is selling his 06 EVO MR for 20k. thats a awsome price since i know he paid like 36K for it... but coming up with that much $ would be hard. anyway TTYL

Sorry for the confusion, the WRX is dead. I replaced it with my 03SE

MOST MECHANICS RECOMMEND AROUND 3 TO 5 THOUSAND MILES, IF YOU BOUGHT A JASPER ENGINE LIKE ME THATS A GOOD IDEA,IF ITS A JUNKYARD ENGINE ITS ALL READY BROKEN IN
