i just got done doing a moto swap in my girlfriends 90 honda accord the problem is i put a 91 motor in it thinking that it would not be a big deal but after it was in and hooked it doesn't start it gets fuel air and spark but won't start so i have heard from some other people that it needs a different computer for a different year engine. so i was wondering if anyone could give any ideas or might know for sure what is wrong

This is gsr778 I couldn't log out of fred's name.

Since it is so early in the morning and i can't think to well i think that honda changed the ecu from 90 to 91 but not for sure. Also you may want to double check and make sure that you really are getting a spark. Take out a spark plug and attach it to the wire and make sure that your are indeed getting a spark. When i checked my spark all i felt was a shock but did not see a spark, so I thought that it was still producing a spark. As it turned out my coil was bad therefore producing a currnent but not a spark.

Also double check and see if the you got the right ecu for the engine. If you have an obd-0 ecu for and obd-1 engine then the engine may not fire up. You can check on the side of the ecu itself. It should say a P-someting (ie p13, p28, p08, p75, etc.). Let me know.

90-91 engines were identical 92-93 were different new throttle body so ecu would be different. Only difference in 90-91 were the trims EX had 5hp extra due to a less restricive header.I would recheck everything..
