After a week of waiting for this terrible rain/cold/wind to stop, it's FINALLY supposed to be nice tomorrow so I plan on finally installing the engine/transmission and taking the car out for the first time with the brand new engine.

Anyway, the second the engine starts, I want to take the car out, in accordance with what the people who built my engine (and wiseco's ring break-in procedure) told me to do. I do not want to let the car sit, idle, and warm up. That's not to say I'll be going out and jumping on it, because I won't even hit boost or exceed 3000 rpm the first ride. The problem is, the block has no coolant in it whatsoever, and the only coolant I'll be adding to the engine will be through the radiator/overflow tank, which isn't CLOSE to the maximum capacity of the whole system....

In order to really add the max amount of coolant to the system, it's necessary to let the car sit, idle, completely warm up, then cool down (radiator will take what it needs from the overflow tank), then do the same thing multiple times until it's to complete capacity. But like I said, this is not an option, because I want to take the car out under load the second it gets started, and if I do so with just the coolant in the radiator, I know for a fact that the temp gauge will jump dangerously high and pretty quickly, something I do not want to do with a $3500 engine. The FSM says to do this procedure the engine needs to be warmed up, then raced in neutral at 2500 rpm for 10 seconds three times, then let it cool, then add coolant as necessary, etc. Again, not an option.

So my question is, is there anyway to add more coolant to the whole engine cooling system than just the coolant added to the radiator?

I really don't feel like having to take the car out, and then once the temp gauge jumps pull over on the side of the road, wait for the engine to completely cool down, then add more coolant...that'd be a PITA to do.

Any tips for how to add the max coolant to a dry block before taking the car out for the first time?

Thanks

Marc

check out sanoil's post to locate that air bleed valve...open it up & fill until it flows a steady stream of coolant. (+ massage upper hose)... etc.

yeah get a spill free and use the air bleed valve, no need to turn on the engine for long periods of time.

also make sure while youre doing this, the front of the car is higher then the rear end. vehicle has to be on an incline for air bubbles to escape easily.

i still hven't flushed mine yet, today spent couple minutes getting to engine plug and loosened it.
