Yeah,No one will be able to get past paying more for an Eclipse if they make it. You know they will charge an outragous price for that amount of horsepower. Like Silent Drifter said, "itll never happen....."

Yeah that power will never happen and the design will be dumbed down, but they ARE considering bringing back AWD to the DSM, which is the only thing that ever made them worthwhile...

Well I dont know. Theres a good chance it will. Its been in quite a few major mags. And theyve all said "the 4th generation eclipse is scheduled to appear in 2006." Mitsubishi's goal the past few years has been to get the younger crowd, hence the commercials and their line of cars targeted towards younger americans. i can totally see this car coming out in 2006. I personally like the look... especially the plasma headlights and the way the trunk, hood pop.

well maybe they're trying to get their performance aspect out there

look at the EVO 8...made it's mark...now maybe time for a performance coupe?

470hp will keep this car out of the price and insurance range of most younger drivers. Now the Evo8 is a different story for people my age.

Ya, i dont think all the designs and definately all the performance will be on the 4th gen for sure. im not even sure itll be V6. mitsu may stick with their old AWD setup. probably close to the evo setup. but who knows. maybe it will be v6

Supposedly, that is very close to the design they are using, but for right now they only have FWD as a definat, AWD is still up in the air. I highly doubt they will stick the 4g63 in there, it would be direct compition with the evo8.

isn't DSM itself defunct now?

can't say I wouldn't find a 470hp factory Mitsu amusing. I still think it's an ugly car though...

OK THIS IS THE MOST RETARDED DESIGN EVER.... HAVING SPLIT ENGINES WITH DIFFERENT POWER OUTPUTS? THAT MEANS TWO TRANSMISSIONS, TWO ENGINES, MULTIPLE BATTERIES, THREE ECUS, ETC. THE AWD SYSTEM IS GOING TO TAKE ALOT OF WORK BECAUSE IT IS GOING TO HAVE TO ACTIVELY MODULATE BOTH ENGINES TO MAINTIAN GRIP...... THIS THING IS GOING TO HAVE OOODLES OF PROBLEMS.

Yeah, you'd think with their track record, Mitsubishi would be trying to have as few transmissions as possible. :)

It won't happend. But, if something with that much power did come out, it would not be badged an Eclipse. It would be nice if they brought back AWD though.

eww the seats and dash are very ugly but if it had that much power (doubtful) it wouldnt matter what it looked like
