so how many people on here have a 240sx as a daily driver with kids? my wife just had our first child, (a beautiful baby girl) and I just wondered how it works for you? I just got my 240 and am already thinking of getting rid of it because the back seat is so small. :/ I would HATE to get rid of it already but you gotta do what you gotta do.

I've never put a baby seat in my 240, or my Prelude... but I've watched other people do it and it doesn't look fun. If you value your lower back, either get something else that is family friendly, or don't take the kid in the 240 with you.

I know my 1991 240SX doesn't have ratcheting seat belts in the rear. Couldn't really mount a seat back there if I wanted too.

I had a 1990 hatch when my oldest son was born. While it can be done with a carrier type baby transport (baby in a carrier and a base that it latches into that is belted in), it's not very practical. My wife would usually sit in the back seat with the baby behind me and as he got older, and we switched to a normal style seat, it got more tight.

It's not easy, nor practical, but it can be done. Just depends on your comfort and how much you are willing to sacrifice it.

Do you have another car to use as a daily?

I did for a few years with my old '89 hatchback, but it's not gonna take long for them to outgrow it. If it's just you and the child, you can get away with it, but if you plan to bring your wife along, it's a tight squeeze with a baby and it'll get progressively worse as they get bigger. You'll end up having to move one of the front seats way up to give mom leg room in the back until they outgrow the car seat. By the time my son was 4, I got a bigger vehicle to haul everyone comfortably, and the 240sx was strictly for my commuting and picking my son up alone from daycare in the afternoons.

to sum it up, If you have a one car family, you're on borrowed time with a 240sx. But if you have multiple vehicles, and you commonly use the 240sx with one adult and the child, it can work..

They will obviously lack the new anchor points for baby carriers, but the "bucket" type back seat seemed to keep my daughter's seat planted. Mine is a coupe, not sure if it's any easier than the hatches. It gets much easier when they reach booster seat age. I never had much of a problem, she always looked forward to riding in "Lightning McQueen"

It'll be fine for a while but i'd start stock-piling some money now. Then you could just pay cash for a more family-friendly car when she outgrows the back seat. BTW, what does your wife drive?

she doesnt yet. haha for one she isnt that interested in learning, and on top of that she really doesnt want to learn in a 5 speed. lol (she is only 18) so I think after a while once she does start driving I can just get a more family friendly car and she can drive it. like I said I dont want to get rid of it so we will see if it works well and if not I will be trading off my car. :P
