Hi All,

I've been lurking for a couple weeks now and can't thank you enough for all the info I've gotten from the posts. My new coupe (3.5 CVT) will be arriving in mid-March. I'm wondering what people's opinions are on the break in procedure?

Thanks.

I agree hammer it!!!

When i had 20 km's on my car i shot it to redline and then sat back and smelt the burning of the clutch/all the new components of the engine. Damn, it was sweet.

After that i just drove it under 3k, and broght it to redline here and there.. how can you keep 270 horses under the hood? You cant.

BTW, i truly dont beleive in breaking in new cars. Ive heard from many other sources that manufacturers grind down their components before installing them , so they basically do it for you. I dont think you should drive it like you stole it.. just enjoy it.. Its going to end up in the junk yard a few years down the road anyway.

i'd say keep it under 4 for the first 1000 miles, and then like 1-2 times a week really push it to nearly redline (i go to about 6...6.5). change oil to synthetic after the first 1000miles, then every 3k.

chow's got the right idea... you can't keep this car tame... it BEGS to be pushed, so you gotta give it some lovin' every now and then :D
