Picked up my 2001 Maxima from the shop right at closing time. They put in a new computer and Idle air control. I follow my wife home and it ran great for her but when she pulls up in drive way & puts it in park, the car shuts off on its own. We started it up a few times & each time after letting it idle for like 30 seconds to a minute, the car starts to idle rougher and the rpm's drop and the car dies out on its own. What the heck could it be now??? Taking it back to them in the morning.

maybe they didn't connect the IACV sensor all the way(until it clips), so it may have jiggled out while driving. I'll bet that if you start it and apply gas it will run fine, but if it needs to idle it will die again.

sensor not clipped in properly, or the sensor is defective from the manufacturer.

Took it back to the shop this morning & they will run it over to the Nissan dealer, we forgot to give him our spare key & remote to re-program to the new computer, but the dealer will look at it cause they are the ones who had to reset the codes anyways. When we got to the shop, guy goes out, starts it & we are waiting for it to stop running, of course it idles perfect for him LOL. But then we told him to rev up motor slightly 1 time, he does it, and as soon as he takes foot off accelerator, the rpms go all way down, and instantly motor cuts off. He starts up car, revs up again, and it cuts off again, so now he sees what we mean. Gotta be the IACV. Will give update when we find out whats up.

Well they still cant figure it out. The shop says the IACV was no good, so either the new one that was put on was bad, or since the computer was bad when they put the new IACV on, they say it might have caused the new IACV to go out. So the shop got another new IACV from the dealer and put it in & STILL the car when its in park & idles, shuts off. What could be causeing this? I dont think I have ever replaced or cleaned the fuel filter, could that be it? Not enough gas flow when its in park? Is there any way something thats delivering the fuel like the fuel pump be causeing this? It only cuts out when its in park idling. Sometimes when at a stop light it will idle rough.
