Im in need of replacing my compressor. I'm told by my mechanic who works on only Nissans and Infinities that his luck has been bad with aftermarket compressors for this vehicle. He suggests factory for this job but will put anything I want on. My question is, has anyone had problems out of a aftermarket compressor for this model Q. On the other hand, should I just follow my mechanics suggestion and go factory?

The question should be, "Has anyone had problems with the OEM compressor?"

To which, as far as I can recall, is "No!" It only fails if it gets dirty through an open system. That's on the owner, usually.

So, if you are content for a few more miles, maybe aftermarket is the way to go.

I agree, the OEM compressors are fine. To be accurate, its not that it has stopped cooling. Couple days back the engine was just louder but performance wasn't affected. No fluid issues nor CEL. My mechanic said the noise is coming from the compressor and removed the belt to prevent it from locking up.

you need a new compressor. How much longer do you plan to own the car? If your answer is a few years or longer,go with a factory part....if a year or so,your decision to roll the dice and try a remanned generic.
