Hey, everyone, new to this forum.

I signed up and posted a new message yesterday, but someone took me out of the system. Whats wrong?

anyhow, i need some advise with my new clutch.

its a stage 1 from clutchmasters. it vibrates on first gear when i take off and also on reverse. Is that normal for a new clutch?

also it engages in the middle, is itn't supposed to be grabbing kinda below, with new clutch?

thanks for all the help

the place that it engages has to do with where your clutch pedal is set to , you can adjust the nut that connects the pedal to the master cylinder to change the place where the clutch releases.

Also the vibration you are talking about is probably some very slight chatter. This is normal and it will go away as the clutch gets broken in.

I already adjusted the clutch pedal, it has a lil free play like before that i used to, but still this clutch doesn't feel like stock one.Stock one had that solid quality feel to it. no vibration at all.

when i start moving on first gear, it sometimes shakes drivetrain, but sometimes i engage it perfect at low rpm so its okay i guess.

Also, i smell lil, very lil clutch burn inside the car. Its hot here these days, and i hope i am not burning my new clutch.

I'm shifting perfectly for now, will do so until 500 miles or so.after that party begins, 1st gear redline, 2nd gear redline and dump the clutch!! whoo hoooooo

Is a little clutch burn smell okay for new clutch?

I looked at the listing for the Stage1. Based on the description, that clutch should not chatter on engagement. Also, a new clutch should not smell on use.So a couple of comments:Don't drag the clutch. It overheats the disc and can exacerbate the chatter. You might be driving perfectly fine but without me there to see you , I just thought I would mention this.Chatter on an organic disc usually comes from oil or other media on the surface of the flywheel or disc. Don't forget that when the flywheel is surfaced there will be a thin film of machining oil left. When installing a clutch you MUST ALWAYS clean the surface of the flywheel. If the pilot bushing was not replaced it can lead to clutch chatter. When I took mine out it was totally disintegrated and came out in pieces. Of course, the disc was down to its rivets also. Factory clutch in the car for 145K will do that.

clutch feels a bit fine now on take off, but still a bit vibration.

Not as bad as it was the first day. I got about 60 miles on it now.Pedal starts grabbing in the middle, i am really concerned about that.

with stock one, when it was new, it would help for shifting perfectly, since it started gradually grabbing from close to the bottom.

it engages really nicely on other gears, even on 5th gear you feel it engaging really good.

but then again, I match speed to rpm for perfect shifting.

no more burning smell at all.

hope this vibration goes away completely.

The pedal is different because you chose the Stage I disc. I can guarantee it has less marcel than the factory and therefore a shorter engagement distance. This may be what you are feeling in the pedal.

I hope it clears up for you also.

Additionally, let this be a lesson to others. He didn't do anything wrong and bought a fine clutch, but it sounds like maybe he wasn't quite prepared for what he got. We get at least one clutch problem a week here and frequently it seems people do not know or understand what they are buying. Do your research guys. This isn't rocket surgery. :)

I did a good research about the clutch and chose CM stage 1, but then again, there's no customer reviews about the clutches a lot.

You definitely right, more intel you have about something, better decisions you can make.-that comes from a programmer, who uses logical part of his brain everyday- :)

thanks again everyone.

Very true. Its a shame really, particularly since every manufacturer makes theirs differently.

i am sorry, i couldn't help but dumped the clutch on 2nd gear at 6k rpm at 30mph after 140 miles on new clutch and ...

it was greattttttttttttttttttttttttt

oh man, its way better than stock one. it grabbed so hard, and tires spinned!!!!!!!!!!!!, and i took off. lol

hope i didnt ruin the clutch since i've done it like 5 more times.

but trying to take it easy for up to 500 miles

vibrations getting better, but still burning smell, and u know what, i had that smell with stock one too, when i'd ride on it.

oh yeah, only problem is that, due to shorter engagement distance and being so stiff,

it will be a problem in rain while shifting, and definitely snow, but its a lot of fun.

just dont do it too much, it'll ruin your transmission
