I just installed a Centerforce dual friction clutch. New throw out bearing, factory flywheel, everything new. I put it all back together, no problems. Trans was little tough to line up, but, nothing real bad. My pedal effort is actaully softer, clutch engages about 1/2 pedal but it slips real bad under load. I cant think of anyway that this could be. The slave cylinder moves the fork about an inch when pressed. I dont think that the fork could be pushing against the pressure plate, if it were, we wouldnt have been able to push the transmission on all the way. Anyone have any ideas?? I know that the flywheel may have had some oil on it from the factory to keep it from rusting, I forgot to clean it. I don't know what else it could be.

dude i had the same clutch in my 96 240 with a redtop sr and im not saying its a bad clutch but it slipped so bad when i had more that one person in the car. Once in a while it wound just slip for no reason. Then it wound up blowing apart at the track. It slipped even before i took it to the track. I now have an act 6 puck which is a little harsh for the street but when u get used to it its so nice, spins 2nd gear for so long and hits very hard.

Maybe the throughout bearing is too big or the fork is misaligned. It sounds like the clutch is running partially disengaged at all times.

I just put it in today. It slipped first thing, I barely give it gas and it slips. It acts like it is partially disengaged but I cant figure out how it could be. The throw out bearing is NEW from Centerforce and I installed it correctly. Maybe the fork moved or something and got bound up while we were putting in the transmission?? Anyone know how that couldhappen??

I know this may sound dumb, but you might need to adjust the MC. When I replaced my clutch, it would slip like a mother when you tried to accelerate quickly, but would catch when you left off the gas. I adjusted the MC, and it engages/disengages perfectly now. Just an idea.

well, there is like 1mm clearance between the fork and the slave cyliner rod, so, I know the salve isnt putting pressure on it. There isnt any play in the fork at all. I know the clutch disk isnt in backwards. the pedal is REAL light and it loks like the salve is extended more than it should be when the clutch is engaged.

When does the clutch engage on the pedal? You probably just need to adjust the pedal. Make it so it engages farther in so you know that when are driving that it is at least engaged completely. Then make adjustments from there. Also, check your clutch fluid. Bleed it and get rid of the stupid dampener box and line while your at it.

Ok, got the damn thing fixed!!! The guy that works with my friend....that helped us.....that put the throw out bearing in....well, he put the damn thing in wrong!!! I appreciated his help, but, I didn't like the fact that he just yanked the bearing out without looking at how it was in there. Anyhoo, the Centerforce Dual friction grabs like CRAZY!!! I love it. Just need to adjust it b/c it engages too close to the floor for me.

All that work, and putting It back together with fluids to have to take It apart again. I'm glad you got It fixed. I did a clutch job on my S14, and man that was not fun. Although, I could do It really fast now If I had too.

yeah, i hate doing things twice. If I hadn't been pressed for time to get the car out of the dealership by 6 things would have been different. It wasn't my fault or my friend's fault.....the guy my friend works with put the throwout bearing in. I don't like people that I don't know touching my car, but, he seemed cool and I appreciated his help. I WILL NOT EVER let him touch my car again. There are only 4 people I trust to assist me with my car...my Dad, Kieth (a tech at Nissan), my friend Ian (tech at Honda), and ME!! Word to anyone doing a clutch.....make sure that damn throwout bearing clip is on the RIGHT WAY or it WILL NOT WORK!!
