Ok, I just put in the stage 3 clutchmaster clutch in my car, I have around 200miles of "break in" on it. Earlier today when i was driving on the streets I had to get on the gas because a car was comming up fast behind me. Well when I gassed it my clutch slipped around 4500 rpms at 10psi. Is this normal for a new clutch, Or do I have a problem that I need to look at closer.Any help is appreicated.Thanks-Jon

Sounds to me like there is load on your hydraulic system even when your foot is off the pedal. You need to adjust the clutch pedal so that the slave cylinder isn't extended when your foot is off the clutch.

Do it ASAP or you'll kill off your nice new clutch with a quickness.

Ok, I loosened my clutch pedal and it relived some pressure. I was wondering if my clutch will stiffen up when its fully broken in, right now it dosnt feel like a stage 3?? will it grab better once broken in??

What do you mean "doesn't feel like a stage 3". Have you ever driven a car w/ a clutchmasters stage 3 before? Just because a clutch doesn't feel like it should to you without any frame of reference doesn't mean anything

FWIW, my Spec stage 3 feels very soft, at least to my tastes.

I know what you're getting at, but in quite a few years working w/ 240sx's, I've yet to ever see a rear main seal go an either a KA or an SR.

That said, yeah, for the $10 it costs you may as well replace it, but it's not something I would worry about.

If i relieve the pedal to much where there is no pedal free play and very stiff all the way up..will it grind when i press the clutch all the way in and tryin to shift gears.?Seem like it does this with my car especially when its cold.. it makes a squeeky grinding sound during a shift.. when the clutch is depressed at stop, it doesnt have a problem..could it be the source of the problem?

ry0s...it really depends. Due to different slave and master cylinder conditions, every car is going to be different. What you basically want to do is have it so that when your foot is off the pedal there is NO extension of the slave cylinder. Beyond that any adjusting of dead space at the top of the pedal is basically personal preference.

Wut kind of problems might this cause if there an "extension of the slave cylinder"?Will this cause premature clutch failure?

Thanx.. either way imma try to adjust it but i just wanna know:)

If the slave cylinder is extended when your foot is not on the clutch pedal it means that the clutch disc will be slightly riding on the flywheel, which means your clutch will wear out significantly faster than it should.

Think of how the whole clutch system works: pedal -> master cylinder -> hydraulic system -> slave cylinder -> release fork -> throwout bearing -> pressure plate -> clutch disc, and it all makes sense.
