I just got back from my 28 day sentence at work, and am loving my time off. My shop installed a new Zoom stage 1 clutch for me and I love it. Much better than stock even before it started slipping. Now that my clutch is new, and I have fresh GL-4 Synchromesh, my car is acting up. When I first start the engine, it fires up perfect, but start hunting for idle. It will go 500 for a second then 2000 for a bit, up to a minute. It will rev up perfect during this, but when I let off to gas, it starts hunting again. I have let my car sit for 3 months almost, so I am open to any fuel related opinions. I have ran 2 tanks of gold 93 and 2 cans of Berrymans B12, so I am frustrated at my problem.

if the car is hunting for an idle it may be the idle air control valve

Problem is fixed for now, do not know, but now it runs great. Must have had some water in tank. BTW, has anyone had any experience with Zoom clutches? I bought a Stage 1 and it is great. Now for the Al flywheel when I buy a new transmission.

i'd clean the MAF just for good measure..and possibly an even more solid idle.

All fixed now, I cleaned everything-MAF, TB, new filter, checked plugs, new fuel filter; with no luck. I put an old breather on the valve cover where the small tube runs into the intake, and it fixed the problem. Now, I do not think that I had so much blow-by as to mess with my idle, as the car runs great, but it works. I needed to remove tubing anyways because my new intake tube only has hookup for the 2 vacuum lines.

As for next time, always good to put a bottle of BG drygas or that Sta Bil stuff in the tank if your'e going to let it sit for that long. Or have someone come and drive it around the block a few times a month.
