damn, we definately need more traffic on this side of the forum!

anyway, i just installed a new centerforce dual friction clutch into my 93 240sx hatchback. first time i started it up, it wouldnt go into gear, i remembered how hard it was to cram the clutch alignment tool into the new pilot bushing, so i figured maybe the input shaft is just stuck on it. I reved it up a few times with the clutch fully pressed down, then i tried to put it in gear, and it worked! but it is hard to put in gear, it doesnt take all my strength, but it is much harder when i had my old clutch installed.

im wondering why it is like this, i have a new throwout bearing, the clutch is properly bled with motul synthetic clutch fluid. and the transmission was filled with 2.4 L of motul 75w90 synthetic blend. could it just be the fluid i put in (maybe use thicker?) or maybe clutch pedal adj?

car has about 97k miles on it. :help

Does it grind at all when you put it in gear?

If it does, then you probably need to adjust the clutch pedal, because the clutch is not totally disengaging and it's not letting it go into gear easily.

If not, probably something is up with the transmission. Might wanna check it out or get it checked out.

try shifting it into all the gears with the car on and off. with the car off the first shift into any gear doesent count but any following shifts you need to get the feel for it once you have the feel do it again with the car running does it feel the same? if it is alot easier to shift with the car off. i would say your internal trans components are most likely ok and you have a clutch problem somewhere. first thing i would check would be the hydrolics , master cyl for a leak inside the car where it is bolted to the cowl. the slave for leaks pull the boot back and check for fluid. if all that appears ok something in the clutch housing is not right. like the shift fork not properly placed on its pivot. pressure plate weak. or in 2 seperate cases i have seen personally only after the car was towed to the dealer ship cause they just put a clutch in and it wouldnt shift right. umm the clutch plate was installed backward...lol

thanks for the responses, i went and adjusted the clutch, and it has pretty much remedied the problem, the only thing is that it is very rough going into the gear. it is not the clutch because I adjusted it to both extremes and it disengages totally. even when the car is off it feels rough. i put in 75w90, do u think that is too thin for a 90k+ miles transmission?
