So I ordered a new clutch kit for my Z. I went to the drag strip once when I first got the car and I think I burned the stock one up pretty good. It still drove fine but it smelled up my garage for a good week. Terrible. :frown:

I went with the ACT Clutch kit with the Streetlite Flywheel. Has anyone used this one before?

The flywheel is 16.9 lbs. and I believe the stock one is around 23-25 lbs. They make some as light as 11 lbs. but I've heard arguments for both sides (heavy is better/lighter is better). I don't plan on forced induction, it's pretty much a daily driver with the occasionaly drag strip, so I went with one in the middle of the road at 16.9. Hopefully I'll have this thing installed in a week or two.

So, I found a Brembo Brake kit I'm going to slap on when I get the clutch installed. They are used so I'm thinking about getting them repainted. The calipers are gold right now, but I was thinking about making them red. Anyone tried this? How would they repaint or powder coat and leave the "brembo" on the calipers?

I have that flywheel on my G35 and love it. You will notice a slight more gear noise between 1500-2500 rpm, but then it will go away. Nothing to sweat. Maybe more gear noise @ idle too, but mine was noisy with the stock flywheel. Just added that flywheel to project 350z as well.

You can repaint the calipers and buy some Brembo stickers to put back on when finished.

Excellent. Yes, it's definitely not sneaky quiet as stock. I'm used to the noise, thanks for the heads up.

The guy that is selling me the brakes also has a lower plenum for $375. Seems kind of expensive since I've found some new online for $420. Are they worth the money in terms of performance?

Cool. Did you get the OEM Brembo's? I know a few get them painted. And you can get new Brembo stickers as well.

Yes sir, I get the brakes tomorrow. I also found a shop that will repaint them and get new stickers also. I think I'm going to make them red with white brembo stickers. Those should feel a lot better than stock also. Do you have them on yours?

White letters on red calipers will look very nice. The stock Brembo's are really nice upgrade. Now your Z will look even better.

I haven't pulled the trigger on getting Stoptech 6/4 brake kit yet.

And they work pretty well too. I finally had the opportunity to ride in & drive a Z that had the non-Brembo brakes and there's a world of difference between the two systems. I've heard so many people say the Brembos on the track models are all show but I've got some seat time that says otherwise. When it came time to change out the pads I went with ET700's from Racing Brake (and did steel lines at the same time), anticipating the Tail of the Dragon run next weekend that I'm not going to end up attending. The fronts are quiet but I get a little squeal on the rears when they're cold or on low speed stops. I may end up ordering some shims to counter that but for the time being it's no big thing. They generate a little more dust that stock pads but I haven't noticed any excess rotor wear...too bad, Racing Brake 2 piece rotors are next up on the stopping menu. :)

I've been taking my bike to Putnam and Mid Ohio for years. I'm finally switching it up and plan on taking the Z. I think these brakes are a necessity before I go. Plus I think I'm getting them for a pretty good deal. $700 for the Brembo front/rear, calipers, rotors and stainless steel braided brake lines, plus I have to give him my old brakes.

^It's a great deal for $700. How are the conditions of the calipers, rotors and pads besides chipped paint on the calipers?

Well, I'll find out for sure tonight but he says they are in good shape and I wouldn't need any pads or rotors for a while.

Here is a pic of one front and rear.

^Looks to be in good shape. If you need to upgrade the rotors, I'd go with 2-piece rotors like Badger along with Hawk pads.
