I've heard/read that when a new clutch is put in, a "breakin" needs to happen. I am assuming that means no burn outs

in general how many miles and is there a specific rpm that it needs to be kept under.

thanks for your help... I just finished my first clutch replacement. (exedy stage 2, the 3 puck) and the wheels a spinning now.

500 miles for break in. I'd try to keep it under 2500-3000rpm forthe first 250

Yep...500 miles of break-in is what we suggest. Of course, driving style can effect this a bit too. Let me know if you have any further questions.

the car feels good...lots of grab now...its tempting to launch it...right foot is twitching.

1st gear to 2nd feels a little jerky, all other gears feel fine. is that normal? maybe because i'm shifting into 2nd at a low rpm.

1st to 2nd has always been a little herky jerky for me, no matter what car I'm driving.

Yeah, everything sounds pretty normal. You should progressively increase your aggressiveness as the unit breaks in. Of course, I don't suggest immediately going out and doing clutch drops. Just be smart about it. If you start to notice any slip, back off and play it cool for a while. Give it some more miles/time and get back to it. Remember, break-in is not only about miles. It is specifcally about heat and bedding in of the material. Jumping on the Interstate for 500 miles won't do the trick. Stoplight to stoplight, daily driving is the best method for wearing it in correctly. Let me know if you have any further questions. Thansk!
