Saw this in one of the English language newspapers I frequently read, so I found it on their online website.

I wasn't aware that Nissan had ended production of the Cima. I never really liked the styling of the last Cima, but love the Y33. Was the U.S. Q45 the same as the last gen Cima? I know the first gen Q45 was based more on the Nissan President, then the Y33 were pretty much the same for both markets, but that's all I know.

Sweet! The M56 is a pretty damn decent car. If Nissan can do as well with a new Cima, I'll be pleased.

The last-gen (F50) Cima and President were basically the same car. The President was really just a super-lux spinoff with a different grille. But yeah, the F50 President/Cima were the same as the last-gen Q45 here in the US. I actually liked the styling of them a lot more than the Y33, especially after it was sharpened up in 2006.

The President looks awesome. I thought the M had fulfilled the role previously played by the Q...

If they can get the design right, I'll be very interested. Maybe they could adopt some of the sculpted lines from the recent Infiniti concepts.

I have a feeling, though, that Nissan will make it weird, bulbous, and ugly.

Nope. M was always a separate model, and the two coexisted for years.
