just went and got a 95 240 with a 93 redtop in it. now i really love the car and i have been fixing all of the little stuff the previous owner didnt take care of like not reciculating the bov and a little boost leak. well i have had the car for about 2 weeks now and im noticing gas i the oil. now my first guess is this car had its 4ss beat in japan and the rings are done for. i havent found anyone around with a compression or a leakdown tester. i thik im gonna try to rent it from autozone or something. now that i have my eys set on just rebuilding the dam thing i wanted to see if you guys have anyother opinions. im not worried about rebuilding it i just dont have another car to beat around while i do that, but above all i really dotn want to spin a bearing. lemme know what you think - a/f runnin rich wasghing the cylinder, bad rings/ valve seals? i need to get this thing reliable so i can start enjoying my summer - thanx

Most likely cause is leaking injector o-rings. Pull the fuel rail off the engine with the lines and injectors still attached. Then turn the key to RUN (not start) and see if any fuel is dripping out.

Replacement O-rings are from 240SX and 300ZX for SR injectors. One from each.

hey thanx jeff, hearing that is opinion is alot better than thinkin about a rebuild (still wanna do one) say hi to my man evan berg for me. we went to wyotech together. im jay aiello from his chassis drivetrain class! imma give it a compression check in addition to checkin my o-rings. im gonna be driving home from class with my fingers and toes crossed tho.....

tried the test you told me and there wasnt any noticable leakage, however the injectors were all missing o-rings except #4. compression was 145 psi all the way across so that was a relief. when i looked at my plugs though the looked like it was burning really close to stoich so that confused me. if i am gonna replace exactly should i get? i am willing to buy new injectors if they are the culprit but i dont really want to dropthe3 money if thats not it. the way i see the system, the o-rings are only there it isolate the injector nozzle from the atmosphere, not to hold fuel into them but then again you are the sr guy so im goin with what you say. well all that aside what engine is that lower o-ring from or should i just buy a set for each car? lemme know im gonna go this wekend thanks again

Upper o-ring is big, seals injector at top, lower o-ring is much smaller, seals it on the bottom. If you were missing lower o-rings, the fuel would just pour into the cyls like crazy. Upper ones are for 240sx and lower ones are from Z32, or the other way around, bring em in to the dealer.
