Not that anyone cares that much, but I picked up a new car yesterday afternoon to replace my wrecked s13 coupe that I only got to enjoy for 2 years. Here she is un-wrecked:

. I live at the top of a big hill and the ebrake broke (and it wasn't in gear :banghead: :banghead: ) so the car rolled backwards at probably ~25-30mph and hit a parked Chevy Astro :

Damage was obviously extensive, but the coilovers and rear upper control arms survived with no problem, and were promptly sold to a friend. Otherwise, everything is mostly fine with the car (motor, transmission, etc) but the whole frame is twisted. A sorry way for a car to die.

Anyhow, I spent a month trying to find a nice, affordable (6k or under) s14 locally, but to no avail. After getting jerked around on 3 different (beat) s14s, I finally went and picked up the new ride yesterday: an '89 fastback =).

The car is MINT. Been in Oregon all it's life, and they don't salt the roads here. It's got 2 dings on the right side and that's about it. Guy I bought it from bought it from the original owner 3 months ago, and all he did was throw a set of Greddy Type S coilovers on it 2 months ago. Otherwise, she's bone stock and mint, mint, mint. It has brown interior :yuck: but it's ridiculously clean. Power options and working a/c, but it's a hardtopped car so I actually fit!! ( I didn't fit in my coupe w/ moonroof at all). I couldn't have asked for a cleaner s13. Only paid 3k too!

Not that people necessarily care about all this, but I'm really really excited. I like coupes better, but there aren't any clean ones available locally, so the fastback will be just fine. My 17s are going on it tonight, and I bought all the adjustable control arms so it'll be properly aligned next week. I'll throw all the good bits from my coupe on it (sway bars, stereo, s15 seats) in it over the next couple weeks, and then it'll be perfect =)

Just thought I'd share my happiness!!

Alex

Yeah, sorry about your coupe. It looked real nice.

Although I always park with the e-brake on (even in my garage), I also always follow the rule about parking on hillsides...turn your tires! Turn them away from the curb when facing uphill, and toward the curb when facing down hill. Then, should your car happen to roll, it bounces gently against the curb. At worst you get some damaged aero, but that's better than a totalled ride.

Yeah, well, I know that now I knew that before, but really never bothered. What's funny is that ALL my neighbors started turning the wheels the next day haha.

As for the wheels, they're going on the fb tonight.

Napre Mahdi something or others. Bought them off a local forum. The look like Prime's but I guess they're jdm-tyt3. 17x8 and 17x9 +35...have to run a 5mm spacer up front to clear the coils, but it's no big deal.

That was a really clean coupe, sorry to see it go. But now you have a nice little hatch to play with.

And I don't mean to jack your thread too much, but what kind of wheels are those?

you know what .. i just remembered something that happened about a year ago.

my dads 4 runner was parked in front of my car and my 240 was parked behind him on an incline (my drive way slopes down). me and my friends were talking outside my house and outta no where my car starts rolling down me and my friend pushed the car up while my other friend hopped in, started the car and reversed. it was one scaryass moment. after that day, there has not been a time when i didnt leave it in gear or pulled the ebrake up ALL the way.

By the way, for those not mentioning it, your hatch looks darn fine too. Did the top ever come from the factory painted black? I thought body-colored was factory. Anyway, one less thing for you to have to do. It looks good.

I agree about the coupe, but I must say that having space to put things is actually sort of novel. The hatch is much more practical and looks great with the wheels! The car will be going lower next week once I get all the adjustable arms installed.

Thanks! It has a pinstripe on it which I might leave for the time being...it's probably faded underneath anyway.
