Ok, I've logged about 640miles on my '07 and I still smell this oil burning smell after I turn off the car and get out of it. It smells like some type of manufacturing oil, like the oil that cast parts are coated with to keep them from rusting. I think it must be the exhaust piping. I would have thought it would be gone by now, but, it isn't. There aren't any leaks or anything, fluids are all full, so, no worries there. Just wondering if any of you other '07 guys have noticed this. I don't see any smoke or anything, so, whatever it is it must be burning off slowly. Guess I just need to put the hammer down more often and get that baby hot!

Haven't smelled anything like that on my 07. I have logged about 950 miles so far in 3 weeks. I would have it checked out. It could be leaking something onto the exhaust underneath and causing that smell. Have you seen any spots on the ground where you park your Z? Good luck finding the source and I hope the only smell from now on is from burnt rubber. :

No, I have not seen any spots at all. You really have to try to smell it before you do, it isn't like it just reeks or anything. I actually havn't smelt it the past couple times I have driven it. I'm sure it was just oils burning off of the exhaust. I guess that 0-110mph run I did the other night got her hot enough to finish it off!! LOL

I guess it could have been, but, I wasn't driving it hard or riding the clutch. I don't smell it anymore anyway, must have been oils from the manufacturing process of the exhaust.

my immediate guess would be the same thing I smelt when I got my 07 Z Grand Touring. I ran it kind of hard at times and they (knuckleheads at Nissan) told me it was part of the sealing and new lubrication of the engine. I have 6K miles now and now problems. Check the oil on an even surface three or four days in a row, and also look good at the motor you would see seepage. If not run it easy to about 1500 miles and then enjoy yourself.

It's probably just the engine getting broken in. Did they spray it with any engine dressing when they cleaned it before you got it. That's what smelled when like something burning when I got mine.
