Hey guys I just recently purchased a 1997 Infiniti I30t. It is in absolutely great shape, but I am still looking to make some mods. However I am not sure what info to trust, who to trust, and what are the best products out there. I was hoping to find a local Infiniti Specialist, but I have had no luck. I am in Mass. If you know of anyone please let me know...

So far I have added Window vents and sunroof visor. I have also just replaced the Hood lift strut props, b/c the original ones could no longer hold the hood up. Next I want to put in an intake system, but not sure what to go with (company, cold air, etc..)???? This is why I was trying to find a local specialist I could trust. Please help if you can

Thanks so much!!!!!

welcome to nico. well just to tell you there really is not a lot of great intake systems out there for us. Injen and cosmo are ok. but if you want a real cold air intake make your own. next you would want to look into get a y-pipe and cat back. y-pipe is like the best thing for us because your getting rid of the cats. it really all depends on how much you want to spend and how much you want to do to the car. What do you want from your i30?

get a y-pipe fo'sho like Presscott said but don't do an intake - you'll lose mpg and hp on that one. i would've kept the stock intake but i'm a so the sound it makes compensates for low end power loss (small pen!s etc ). hold on with the cai till i figure out the length that works pretty well throughout the powerband and don't spend money on an injen etc becuase you can get/make the same from ebay or spectre stuff/parts for a fraction of the cost - not everything expensive and with a brand name equals worth the price. and you can trust us (read: ME ).

I appreciate the help. What about the Stillen intake system?? I am going to spend a decent amount of money on this car. I have had the car for just a week now and so far I have replaced the hood struts, put on window vents and sunroof visor, and have purchased a pioneer nav system to put in. I want to keep the car somewhat stock looking but put a little performance and comfort features in to it. Who can I trust to install this stuff correctly?? I will definetly get the Y-pipe next but I thought I could not have a car without a cat conv.??

I am looking for some performance, but nothing too crazy. This is what I was planning on doing to the car from a performance view.Intake, exaust, better (maybe bigger) brakes and calibers, suspension, wheels. For flashy.Window vents and sunroof visor (already done).17" alloy wheels.Pioneer in-dash navigation (already on order).Other than that I am open to suggestions.I am going to replace all of the gold emblems with regular chrome ones, take off the gold pinstripe. Have the car completly wet sanded and detailed. Already replaced the hood struts. Going to replace the power antenna. etc...

Thanks for all your guys help I need it! I love cars but am very ROOKIE when coming to know what to get, why to get it, and understand how it helps the car.

diy - all of your mods are easy to do. stillen, injen, fujita etc all those intakes are more in the "show" not "go" category because they cost a lot and work like ebay intakes. add to your list front and rear strut towr braces and rear sway bar for better handling.

I would do it myself, but I have no clue how to? I appreciate the info on the suspension.

I disagree b/c i've got the INJEN CAI intake system wrapped in header heat wrap, and i get better performance than the Stillen Short Ram that i had before b/c the Stillen Intake sucks up too much hot air. The Injen intake sucks up less hot air, and is 50 State CARB Legal/Street Legal...Stillen is NOT, a big plus when the day comes for a required smog for registration.

MOST DEF get the Stillen Front and Rear Strut Tower Bars.

if you are looking for a simple suspension drop with added handling go with the EIBACH suspension drop. it will put you 1.5" lower inthe front and 1.0" lower in the rear. Join those with the Tokico Illumina Adjustable ride struts.

if you want more performance suspension take a look at fully adjustable height Tein OR D2 coilovers. they both come with camber plates which is a big plus!

exhaust: Stillen is nice, but overpriced. Go with http://www.cattman.com Y-Pipe and full exhaust system. Once again CARB LEGAL/STREET LEGAL with nice HP gains.

i disagree my firend stillen is overpriced period. fstb and rstb on eby do the same for $65 - both and shipped. i finally got my cai/fwi to where i spin my tires from a stand still (95 AT) which cost me less than $50.in your case with a 00vi and MT (guessing) intake is helpful but for any 4th gen...worst thing you can put on.

well all i have to say about my stillen intake is it sucks. i dont like it at all. the first time i took it to the track that intake was so hot it burned me after like 3 runs. i yes it is overpriced. i would go with an injen if i were you and wrap it like lightsout said just because your not trying to go to far into the car and its alot easyer to put on the injen then make one. as for cattmen header back exhaust. it is the **** i love it but it cost a lot. but in owr sport. you got to pay the cost to be the boss .

I will definetly go with the Injen intake then. I really appreciate the feedback b/c without it I would have no clue and probably be wasting money. I am looking to upgrade the suspension but I really do not want to lower the car at all b/c of where I live there are a lot of hills and pot holes. Should I still go with the Eibach springs and Tokico struts?? Definetly liked what I saw on the cattman website. Keep the info coming I love it.

DDM Tuning. $70 plus shipping for low beam only. $145 plus shipping for bi-xenon. I have the 4500K and I like them a lot. 5000K and 6000K seem to have good reviews as well. The higher you go in number, the more blue you get. The lower the number, the more yellow. Depends on your preference. Here's a pic of my old Maxima with 8000K lows and 3000K fogs.
