Being in Texas, tint is a must have.So I called up my old tint shop and made an appointment to get3M tint installed, 5% on the rear, 20% on the sides (front and back). Then they offer to install their newest film on the windshield. It is clear, butstill reflects UV. I like that idea, so I had it done. I wasn't sure if it would makemuch difference, but holy donut! I am really happy with the windshield film!

Here are a couple of pics...

Here is a blurb about it from the tinter's website:3M has developed this window film using a multilayer nanotechnology which works with materials smaller than the width of a hair. 3M's multilayer technology allows 3M to produce a patented window film with hundreds of micro layers of polymer that is less than the thickness of a sticky note. This advanced technology allows 3M Crystalline Window Film the ability to reflect up to 84% of the sun's infared radiation with high visible light transmission resulting in a crystal-clear film that will not interfere with mobile phone reception. The 3M Crystalline Window Film has a UV blockage performance of 99.9% and a total SPF (Sun Protection Factor) that exceeds 1700!!! Not only will your interior will be protected, but more importantly, you and your passengers will be guarded against sunburn, premature aging and risks associated with skin cancer.

If you have the nav package, can you tell if it is easier to read the screen.Tom

I didn't have a problem before, but it is nice and dark in there now.I will not have any issues with glare now- seeing the nav screen.Plus, I have noticed that I can see a lot better at night when oncomingtraffic have their bright lights on. The stars around lights at night are notas large (through the windshield) as they were before- more clear to me.

It was $225 for the 3M Crystalline on the windshield.

For the whole car, including paying for the TXDOT stickers, it was $580.

that included the $25 windshield brow and $10 cash discount.

Joe- this is the car that you helped me buy- Thanks again!

My problem viewing the Nav screen is that I wear polarized, prescription, sunglasses, during daylight hours, just about full time. It is almost always real sunny in SW Florida. I tried sun glasses without the polarization but the sun glare bothered my eyes too much. I can see the screen, but I'm sure not as well as someone without polarized glasses.Tom

I also wear polarized glasses all of the time, and I was a liitle worried that I would be thrown off by the typical rainbow pattern that I see on most other tinted cars- you know what I'm talking about-I have no raindows. I am very pleased. I was prepared to remove the windshield tint if it proved to be a distraction, but no worries!

I was wanting to get the uber-fancy metl/ ceramic/ space dust window tint, but went with the 3M anyways. I am very glad I did. No rainbows, no radio/ GPS/ cell interference, just plain old glare and heat reduction.

My eyes are very sensitive to light and I can't be any happier with this setup.

Thanks. That good information. I'll have to check 3M film prices here in SW Florida.

Does your car have the Graphite Shadow paint ? That is what I have, with the stone interior. The first picture look like it. The 2nd picture looks like blue paint, but I am about 3/4s color blind.Tom

Graphite Shadow, I wouldn't blame your eyes, those are cell phone pics- not the best quality...

Quite welcome

I'm looking to do tint, front/rear spoiler, intake kit, and a stereo (probably just add subs).

Where are you getting yours done in GA? I'm in the Savannah area and I'm wondering where I should look to get this done. Also If I want to get a darker tint, how or can I do that here in GA do you know?

If you go darker than legal tint, they can give you a fix-it ticket. Most tint places will put whatever you want on...but only warranty legal tint.

I'm looking in the South Atlanta area for a shop. A friend of mine works here: http://www.spectrumsoundacc.com/

The tint looks great. I was wondering, did you have factory tinted glass and added the 5%/20%? I'm in the houston area, so i completely understand the need for tint... not to mention it looks pretty sweet.
